Friday highlights from the Giants' farm: Chris Dominguez and Tyler Horan both homered among three hits, and Adalberto Mejia and Joe Kurrasch both allowed 1 R in 6.0 IP.

AAA: Fresno lost to Tacoma 9-7
(allowing four runs over the final three innings)

Fresno: 1B Adam Duvall: 2 for 3, 2B, BB
Fresno: 3B Chris Dominguez: 3 for 4, HR, SO, E
Fresno: 2B Brandon Hicks: 1 for 4, HR, SO, GiDP
Tacoma: 1B Justin Smoak: 2 for 3, HR, BB, SF

Fresno: SP Kelvin Marte: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 5 K--1 HR

Dominguez connected for his 21st HR among three hits.  Duvall also reached base three times.  Hicks homered for the third straight day.  The Mariners' Smoak hit one of four big flies for the Rainiers.

Marte presumably finished his season allowing 4+ ER in four of his last five starts.

AA: Richmond defeated Binghamton 2-1

Richmond: SS Skyler Stromsmoe: 2 for 3, 2B, HBP, SO, 2 SB
Richmond: LF Devin Harris: 2 for 3, 3B, SO, SB

Richmond: SP Adalberto Mejia: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K
Richmond: RP Hunter Strickland: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Stromsmoe reached base three times,  Harris, who had his 3rd triple, was one of two other Flying Squirrels with two hits.

Mejia had a disappointing season, at least statistically with a 4.67 ERA in 108.0 IP, but he finished with two straight quality starts.  Strickland pitched a perfect 9th inning for his 11th save.  In ten August appearances, he has 5 H, 0 BB, 0 R and 13 K in 9.0 IP.

A+: San Jose defeated High Desert 12-3
(after scoring five runs in the 2nd inning)

San Jose: SS Brandon Bednar: 2 for 5, HR, 2B, BB, SO
San Jose: LF Tyler Horan: 3 for 4, HR, SF
San Jose: C Ben Turner: 4 for 5, 2B

San Jose: SP Joe Kurrasch: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Horan and Bednar, both of whom spent the first half in the Sally League, connected for their 8th and 5th Cal League HRs.  Turner's four hits raised his AVG to .294.

Kurrasch had his second straight start allowing just 1 R, improving his ERA to 3.05.

A-: Augusta lost to Charleston 6-1

Augusta: C Ty Ross: 2 for 4, 2B, SB

Augusta: SP Christian Jones: 5.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

Ross had his 24th double, a single, and his 1st SB.

Jones allowed 1 ER or less in 14 of his 22 starts this year.

ssA: Salem-Keizer lost to Spokane 11-5

Salem-Keizer: SS Christian Arroyo: 1 for 3, 2 BB
Salem-Keizer: LF Johneshwy Fargas: 2 for 3, 2B, SO

Salem-Keizer: SP Nicholas Gonzalez: 2.1 IP, 8 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 0 K--1 HR

Fargas was the lone Volcano with two hits.  Arroyo reached base three times.

Gonzalez allowed 7 ER for the second time in his last four starts, raising his ERA above 4.00.

R: Giants defeated Angels 12-8

Scottsdale: RF Carlos Cartagena: 1 for 3, HR, BB, HBP

Scottsdale: SP Nolan Riggs: 3.0 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K--2 WP

Cartagena hit his 1st HR in the U.S. while reaching base three times.

After beginning with 2.0 perfect IP, Riggs issued a leadoff walk in the 3rd inning and advanced the runner to third base on two wild pitches to score on a subsequent groundout.

DSL: Gigantes lost to Rangers1 9-7
(being swept in the best-of-three series)

Dominican: C Miguel Gomez: 3 for 5, HR, 2B, SO
Dominican: SS Manuel Geraldo: 2 for 4, 3B, 2B, SO, CS, 2 E
Dominican: SP Victor Concepcion: 4.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K--1 HB, 1 BK

Gomez and Geraldo each had 2 XBH.  Concepcion allowed just 1 R, but three errors in the 7th inning contributed to the bullpen allowing six runs in that crucial inning.
