Mejia had a disappointing season, at least statistically with a 4.67 ERA in 108.0 IP, but he finished with two straight quality starts.  Strickland pitched a perfect 9th inning for his 11th save.  In ten August appearances, he has 5 H, 0 BB, 0 R and 13 K in 9.0 IP.

Cartagena hit his 1st HR in the U.S. while reaching base three times.

After beginning with 2.0 perfect IP, Riggs issued a leadoff walk in the 3rd inning and advanced the runner to third base on two wild pitches to score on a subsequent groundout.
