Wednesday highlights from the Giants' farm: Brian Ragira homered among five hits, both Angel Villalona and Mario Lisson homered among three hits, Daniel Carbonell had four hits, and Chase Johnson had 7.0 scoreless IP.

Hicks connected for his 4th HR.  The Redbirds had just five hits, two of which came from their pitcher.

Coming off his complete-game shutout, Heston allowed nearly twice as many baserunners in 5.1 IP as he did in 9.0 IP in his previous start.  His ERA rose to 3.36.  Rosario and Broadway, the latter making just his seventh appearance this year, combined for 2.2 perfect IP.  Cooney, one of the Cardinals' top ten prospects, delivered a quality start.  He has a 3.47 ERA in 26 starts this year.

AA: Richmond lost to Altoona 8-7

The Flying Squirrels' corner infielders both homered in three-hit performances.  Lisson's 18th HR was his third big fly in his last four games.  Villalona's 3 XBH hopefully snapped his second half skid.  He has hit just .129/.198/.190 in 116 AB since the all-star break, including just 2 XBH before tonight.

Coming off two outstanding starts (15.0 scoreless IP), Blackburn allowed a season-high 7 R in a season-low 1.2 IP.  His ERA rose to 3.31.  Okert struck out four of his eight batters.

Among six Giants with multiple hits, Ragira hit safely in all five plate appearances, including his 19th HR and 23rd double.  Hitting in the top two spots in the lineup, Carbonell and Jones reached base in nine of twelve plate appearances.

Biagini had 5.0 scoreless IP.  Allowing just 4 ER over his last four starts, he has lowered his ERA to 4.01.

Price had two of the GreenJackets' five hits.

Johnson had a career-high 9 K as he delivered his second straight quality start.  Castillo had 3 K for his 10th save.

Salem-Keizer: SP Keury Mella: 5.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K

Slater's 1st pro HR was a three-run blast in the 3rd inning.  Relaford's three singles account for nearly half of the Volcanoes' seven hits.

Mella went another inning deeper in his fifth rehab start with the Volcanoes.

R: Giants defeated Mariners 9-2

Scottsdale: SP Mark Reyes: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K

Riley doubled and singled to get his OPS back above .600.  He had 4 RBIs today.

Reyes had a season-high 5 K in his fifth appearance (third start).

DSL: Gigantes defeated Tigers 2-0
(winning the decisive third game in the best-of-three series)

Angomas reached base three times.  Reyes faced just two batters over the minimum in 6.0 scoreless IP.
