Sunday highlight from the Giants' farm: Adalberto Mejia allowed just 1 R in 7.0 IP.

AAA: Fresno lost to Memphis 8-0

Fresno: CF Gary Brown: 1 for 3, 2B, HBP, 2 SO, CS
Memphis: SS Pete Kozma: 3 for 4, HR, 2B

Fresno: SP Austin Fleet: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 6 K--2 HR, 1 HB
Memphis: SP Marco Gonzales: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 HB

Brown's 23rd double was one of just five for the Grizzlies.  Kozma, who spent all of 2013 in the majors but has just 3 AB in the majors for the Cardinals this year, was one of four Redbirds to homer.  Kozma has an OPS just above .700 in 361 PCL AB this year.

Fleet allowed 4 ER in each of his first three PCL starts but then just 1 ER over his next two starts combined.  Today he reverted back to 4 ER.  Gonzales, whom the Cardinals drafted 19th overall a year ago and who made his MLB debut earlier this year, combined with two relievers for the shutout.  He has a 3.35 ERA in eight PCL starts.

AA: Richmond lost to Bowie 1-0

Richmond: LF Devin Harris: 1 for 3, 2B, BB, 2 SO

Richmond: SP Adalberto Mejia: 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
Richmond: RP Phil McCormick: 1.0 IP, 1 K

Harris's 24th double was one of just three hits for the Flying Squirrels.

Mejia had a fine start, facing just three batters over the minimum in 7.0 IP and improving his ERA to 4.85.  McCormick pitched a perfect 9th inning.

San Jose: DH Ryan Lollis: 3 for 4, SO
San Jose: C Ben Turner: 3 for 4

San Jose: SP Nick Vander Tuig: 4.1 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 3 K--2 HR

Lollis and Turner each singled three times, but the rest of the Giants lineup was 0 for 25 with 2 BB and 11 SO.

Vander Tuig had his second straight start allowing a season-high 9 K.  His BAA this year is about .330 (excluding his AZL stats).

A-: Augusta lost to Lexington 4-2

Augusta: RF Scott Price: 2 for 3, BB

Augusta: SP Joan Gregorio: 8.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 WP

Price reached base three times, with the two singles raising his AVG to .214 in his brief stint with the GreenJackets.

Gregorio delivered his longest start this year, finishing with four scoreless frames after allowing 3 ER in the 4th inning.

ssA: Salem-Keizer defeated Tri-City 6-5

Salem-Keizer: SS Christian Arroyo: 3 for 5
Salem-Keizer: 1B Skyler Ewing: 2 for 3, BB, HBP
Salem-Keizer: 2B Travious Relaford: 2 for 3, BB

Salem-Keizer: SP Jose Reyes: 5.0 IP, 10 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K--3 WP
Salem-Keizer: RP Eury Sanchez: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Ewing reached base four times, raising his OBP to .436.  Middle infielders Arroyo and Relaford also reached base three times each.

Reyes matched a season high with 10 H in his fourteenth NWL start.  Sanchez had 2 K in a perfect 9th inning.  The 21-year-old's component stats in his third pro season are 23 H, 12 BB, 4 HR, and 42 K in 30.1 IP.

R: Giants lost to Diamondbacks 5-1

Scottsdale: RF Julio Pena: 1 for 3, HR, 2 SO

Scottsdale: SP Samuel Coonrod: 3.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

Pena led off the 3rd inning with his 2nd HR--one of just three hits for the rookie Giants.

Coonrod, the Giants' fifth rounder this year, made his sixth pro start.
