Wednesday highlights from the Giants' farm: Devin Harris and Brandon Bednar each homered while reaching base three times, Edwin Escobar had 5.0 scoreless IP, and Pat Young allowed just 1 R in 6.0 IP.

AAA: Fresno lost to Sacramento 6-2
(allowing two runs in each of the 6th, 7th and 8th innings)

Fresno: C Guillermo Quiroz: 2 for 4, 2B, PB

Fresno: SP Edwin Escobar: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 3 K

Quiroz hit his 11th double and a single as one of four Grizzlies with two hits each.

Escobar issued 4 BB but finished with 5.0 scoreless IP nonetheless.  He threw 89 pitches (51 strikes).  His ERA remains above 5.00.

AA: Richmond lost to Akron 5-2 (11 innings)

Harris led off the 8th inning with his 8th HR to tie the game.  He also hit his 16th double.  Since his early May promotion to the upper minors, he has hit .275/.344/.477 in 218 AB.  Oropesa had his third straight game with a double.

Marte delivered a quality start for the fifth time in his last six starts.  In thirteen starts this year, he has a 3.58 ERA.  Strickland pitched a perfect 8th inning.  His component stats as a Flying Squirrel are now 14 H, 4 BB, 3 HR and 21 K in 16.2 IP.

A+: San Jose defeated Bakersfield 5-1
(after trailing 1-0 entering the 6th inning)

Bendar has hit safely in all eight Cal League games, although prior to his 2 XBH tonight he had just 1 XBH among 11 H.  Ragira and Payne also had two hits each, although both still have AVGs below .260.

Young had his second straight quality start, bringing his ERA below 5.50.

(after scoring three runs in the 2nd inning)

Ross had three hits, including his 12th double, raising his OPS above .600.  Horan and Sim each went deep in the 2nd inning for their 12th and 3rd HRs.

Gregorio completed 5.0 IP for the first time since returning from the DL.  Going the distance in the count to more than half his batters (5 BB and 7 K among 22 TBF), he threw 91 pitches (55 strikes).

ssA: Salem-Keizer lost to Eugene 8-6
(after trailing 8-0 entering the 7th inning)

Fuentes and Pujadas, batting the final two spots in the lineup, each had two hits.  Their AVGs are .150 and .235.

Leenhouts' sixth start was his second shortest start this year.  His ERA rose to 3.54.  Neff's tenth relief appearance was his first in which he did not allow a baserunner.

R: Giants lost to Angels 10-8

Mercedes, a 22-year-old playing in his third AZL campaign, reached base three times.

Martinez allowed hits to nearly half his batters (10 of 21).  Moronta and Brody each had 2 K in their perfect 7th and 9th innings.

DSL: Gigantes defeated Mariners 15-3

Dominican: CF Mikey Edie: 2 for 3, 2 BB, SO, 2 CS

Dominican: SP Olbis Parra: 7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K

Edie was one of four Gigantes to reach base four times.  Despite no strikeouts, Parra delivered 7.0 scoreless IP, improving his ERA to 1.24 through 29.0 IP in his second DSL season.
