Independence Day highlights from the Giants' farm: Andrew Susac hit safely in all four plate appearances, Kelvin Marte pitched a complete-game shutout, Clayton Blackburn had 5.0 scoreless IP, and Tyler Horan homered while reaching base in all five plate appearances.

AAA: Fresno lost to Tacoma 11-7

After going hitless in his four of his last five starts, Susac enjoyed a nice rebound with a four-hit game, getting his AVG back above .270.  The Grilzzies' got three big flies: Dominguez's 11th HR, Brown's 7th HR, and Adrianza's 1st HR.  The Mariners' Montero had a big game with five hits, including his 9th HR and 17th double, plus 6 RBI.  Montero has hit .288/.364/.485 in 233 AB in the PCL.

Escobar's rough season tonight got a little rougher with a new season-high 6 ER.  After yielding 7 HR in five June starts, he yielded 3 HR tonight in his first start in July.  In his previous five pro seasons, he had never yielded more than 7 HR in a season.

AA: Richmond defeated Reading 1-0 (7 innings) in game 1

Richmond: 3B Mario Lisson: 0 for 1, BB, HBP, E

Richmond: SP Kelvin Marte: 7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
Reading: SP Adam Loewen: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K--1 HB

Lisson reached base twice for the Flying Squirrels, who scored their lone run on a bases-loaded walk in the 6th inning.

Marte delivered not only the first complete game of his pro career but did so with a shutout.  Loewen, who pitched in the majors during the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons for the Orioles, before arm troubles led him to try to become an outfielder, has returned to pitching this year.  Now pitching for the Phillies organization, today he pitched his first complete game since 2005, whcih came in the Carolina League, but took the loss.

AA: Richmond defeated Reading 2-0 (7 innings) in game 2

Richmond: LF Devin Harris: 2 for 3, HR

Richmond: SP Clayton Blackburn: 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K--1 BK

Harris led off the 2nd inning with his 9th HR this year.  He was the lone Flying Squirrel to reach base twice.

Blackburn made his first start for the Squirrels in a month and a half, delivering 5.0 scoreless IP.

A+: San Jose lost to Stockton 17-6
(allowing fifteen runs over the 5th and 6th inning)

San Jose: SS Alberto Robles: 2 for 4, 2 2B, SO, GiDP

San Jose: SP Chris Stratton: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 4 BB, 3 K--1 WP
San Jose: RP Ryan Bradley: 1.1 IP, 10 H, 10 R, 10 ER, 2 BB, 0 K--3 HR

Middle infielders Miller and Robles each had two of the Giants' eight hits.

Stratton yielded a new career-high 7 ER, raising his ERA to 5.31.  Bradley had the type of line you seldom see from a starter, let alone a reliever.

A-: Augusta defeated Greenville 13-9
(scoring six runs in the 5th inning and four runs in the 7th inning)

Augusta: LF Rafael Rodriguez: 3 for 4
Augusta: RF Tyler Horan: 4 for 4, HR, 2B, BB

Augusta: SP Luis Ysla: 4.0 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K--1 HR, 1 BK

Horan hit his 10th HR and 19th double while reaching base in all five plate appearances.  He and Rodriguez combined for over half of the GreenJackets' thirteen hits.  Rodriguez's three singles raised his AVG to .276.

Ysla allowed more than 2 ER for just the second time in fourteen starts this year.  His ERA remains below 2.50.

ssA: Salem-Keizer defeated Hillsboro 5-1

Salem-Keizer: 3B Will Callaway: 2 for 3, 2B, BB

Salem-Keizer: SP Jose Reyes: 7.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

Callaway had his 7th double, a single, and a walk.

Reyes took a no-hitter into the 6th inning and got his first win this year.

R: Giants lost to Diamondbacks 9-7 (11 innings)

Scottsdale: DH Rodney Price: 4 for 6

Scottsdale: SP Martin Agosta: 2.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

With four singles tonight, Price has a .391 AVG through his first five pro games.

Agosta made his first rehab start, retiring five of his nine batters.

DSL: Gigantes defeated Rojos 3-2 (10 innings)

Dominican: C Alilzon Rodriguez: 2 for 3, BB, SO
Dominican: RP Jose Morel: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K--1 UBB

The 17-year-old Rodriguez had his first multi-hit pro game.  Morel's ninth relief appearance was easily his longest of the year.
