Monday highlights from the Giants' farm: Jack Snodgrass had 7.0 scoreless IP, and Juan Perez and Mark Minicozzi each homered in multi-hit efforts.

AAA: Fresno lost to Albuquerque 5-4
(allowing the go-ahead run in the 8th inning)

Fresno: RF Juan Perez: 2 for 5, HR, 2B
Fresno: LF Mark Minicozzi: 2 for 3, HR, BB
Albuquerque: C Tim Federowicz: 2 for 3, HR, BB

Fresno: SP Edwin Escobar: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 BK
Albuquerque: SP Zach Lee: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K--2 HR, 1 HB

Perez and Minicozzi went back-to-back in the 3rd inning with their 1st and 6th HRs.  Federowicz, who has over 200 AB with the Dodgers last year and this year, homered while reaching base three times.

Escobar and Lee, in a matchup of pre-season top 100 prospects, each allowed 4 ER and came up shy of a quality start.

AA: Richmond defeated Akron 2-0

Richmond: RP Hunter Strickland: 1.0 IP, 1 K

Schroder his his 4th triple, 13th double, and a single.  In his fourth pro season, he has hit .242/.302/.346 through 260 AB.  Oropesa also reached base three times

Snodgrass made his fourth straight start with at least 7.0 IP.  Tonight's 7.0 scoreless IP brought his ERA back below 3.00.  Strickland pitched a perfect 9th inning for his 5th save.

A+: San Jose lost to Lake Elsinore 8-1
(allowing seven runs in the 7th inning)

San Jose: 3B Mitch Delfino: 3 for 4
San Jose: 2B Brandon Bednar: 1 for 4, HR

San Jose: SP Jose Biagini: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 7 K--1 WP
San Jose: RP Bryce Bandilla: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Bednar led off the 2nd inning with his 2nd HR, scoring the Giants' only run.  Delfino had half of the Giants' other six hits (all singles), raising his AVG to .276.

Biagini bounced back from his last start (7 ER in 1.2 IP), allowing just 1 R through 6.0 IP.  But in the 7th inning, he retired just one of his four batters.  Bandilla had 2 K in a perfect 9th inning.  He has not allowed a run in his last fifteen appearances.

A-: Augusta lost to Charleston 8-5
(tying the game in the 7th inning but allowing three runs in the 8th inning)

Horan and Lofton combined for nearly half of the GreenJackets' eleven hits.

Allowing hits to over half his batters (14 of 27), Messner's 14 H were perhaps the most allowed by a pitcher in the Giants' organization this year.  Black struck out all three of his batters in the 7th inning.  His component stats are 12 H, 8 BB, 1 HR, and 50 K in 24.0 IP.

ssA: Salem-Keizer lost to Boise 7-6

Salem-Keizer: RF Johneshwy Fargas: 3 for 5, HR, SB
Salem-Keizer: SS Christian Arroyo: 3 for 5, E

Salem-Keizer: SP Nicholas Gonzalez: 5.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Fargas led off the game with his 2nd HR.  Both he and Arroyo had three hits.  Arroyo's AVG is now over .300, while Fargas's AVG is just .220.

With 0 ER in three of his last four starts, Gonzalez has improved his ERA to 2.37 through eight starts.  Tonight's start included an 8/2 GO/FO line.

R: Giants lost to White Sox 14-6

Scottsdale: CF Richard Amion: 2 for 3, HR, 2 BB, SO

Scottsdale: SP Kendry Melo: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 2 K--1 WP

Amion led off the game with his 2nd HR--his first of four times to reach base and further raising his OBP above .400.

Melo has allowed 5 R in three of his last four appearances and now has an ERA above 10.00 after six appearances, including three starts.

DSL: Gigantes defeated Cardinals 3-2

Dominican: RF-LF Carlos Valdez: 3 for 4, BB
Dominican: SP Prebito Reyes: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K--1 WP

Valdez reached base four times.  The 20-year-old has hit .287/.367/.479 through 94 AB in his third DSL campaign.  Reyes had one of his better starts, but his ERA remains above 5.00 after nine starts.
