Wednesday highlights from the Giants' farm: Chris Heston allowed just 1 R in 8.0 IP, and Chuckie Jones had four hits.

AAA: Fresno tied with Sacramento 1-1 (still in progress entering 15th inning)

Fresno: 1B Brandon Belt: 2 for 4, SO, CS
Fresno: LF Darren Ford: 3 for 5, SO, 2 SB, PO

Fresno: SP Chris Heston: 8.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 WP

Belt and Ford combined for five of the Grizzlies' (first) eleven hits (all singles).  After hitting about .250 through the end of May, Ford has hit about .350 since.

Heston allowed just 1 R for the fifth time in his last six starts.  His ERA is now below 3.50.  He achieved a season-high 8.0 IP, while throwing 100 pitches (67 strikes).

AA: Richmond lost to Harrisburg 6-2
(allowing four runs in the 8th inning)

Richmond: LF Devin Harris: 2 for 4

Richmond: SP Austin Fleet: 7.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 BB, 6 K--2 HB

Harris had two of the Flying Squirrels' eight hits.  The 26-year-old has hit .274/.346/.458 in 190 AB for the Squirrels.

Despite issuing seven free passes with a season-high 5 BB, Fleet came through with his third straight quality start.  He has a 2.88 ERA in his last seven starts.

A+: San Jose defeated Modesto 8-2
(adding four insurance runs in the 9th inning)

San Jose: SP Joe Biagini: 7.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K--1 WP
San Jose: RP Ryan Bradley: 1.0 IP, 1 K

Jones had four hits, including his 12th and 13th doubles.  With multiple hits in five of his last seven games, he has raised his AVG to .274.  Ragira led off the 4th inning with his 7th HR.

Biagini rebounded from his last start (4 ER with 6 BB in 2.2 IP) with one of his longer starts this year.  He has a 4.14 ERA after fourteen starts.  Tonight's performance also got his K/BB ratio back above 2.00.

A-: Augusta lost to Rome 6-5

With his 18th double and a single, Horan was the lone GreenJacket with two hits.  Sy reached base three times, improving his OBP to .324.

Making his third start among 22 appearances, Messner allowed a season-high 9 H.  His BAA is nearly .300.  Black struck out three of his four batters.  His K/IP ratio remains above 2.00 (37 K in 18.0 IP).

ssA: Salem-Keizer defeated Vancouver 6-1

Salem-Keizer: SP Jason Forjet: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K--1 HB, 1 WP

After having just one hit in his previous seven games, Escalante hit safely three times tonight.  Jones walked four times.  He has 10 BB but just 6 H in 44 AB (.136 AVG).

Forjet's fourth start was his longest this year, pitching into the 6th inning for the first time.

R: Giants defeated Rangers 6-5

Scottsdale: CF Luis Lacen: 3 for 4, SO, E

Scottsdale: SP Nick Vander Tuig: 4.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Ewing and Lacen each reached base three times.  Scutaro, who had been hitless in his first four rehab appearances, hit safely in both plate appearances tonight.

Vander Tuig has 8.0 scoreless IP over three starts for the rookie Giants.

DSL: Gigantes defeated Orioles2 7-1

Dominican: 1B Miguel Gomez: 3 for 5, HR
Dominican: SP Prebito Reyes: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K--1 WP

Gomez hit his 3rd HR among three hits.  Reyes' sixth pro start was his first in which he did not allowed an earned run.  His ERA remains above 5.00.
