Thursday highlights from the Giants' farm: Austin Fleet and Luis Ysla combined for 13.0 scoreless IP in their starts.

AAA: Fresno lost to El Paso 7-6

Fresno: CF Gary Brown: 4 for 5, HR, 2B, SO, SB
Fresno: 2B Tony Abreu: 2 for 4, HR

Fresno: SP Jason Berken: 4.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 HB
Fresno: SP George Kontos: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Brown had a four-hit game, including his 8th HR and 16th double.  He has an OPS close to .800 since the start of June.  Abreu hit his 6th HR.

Making his first start in four weeks, Berken allowed 5 R over the first two frames but finished with two scoreless frames thereafter.  Kontos had 2 K in a perfect 9th inning.

AA: Richmond defeated Harrisburg 5-1
(scoring all five runs in the 5th inning)

Richmond: SS Kelby Tomlinson: 1 for 3, 2B, BB
Richmond: RF Jarrett Parker: 1 for 4, HR

Richmond: SP Austin Fleet: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K--1 PO

Parker's 9th HR was a two-out grand slam in the 5th inning.  Tomlinson was one of three Flying Squirrels with a double and a walk.

Fleet's tenth start was perhaps his best start this year.  It was not his longest start, but he finished with 6.1 scoreless IP and matched a season high with 7 K.

A+: San Jose defeated Rancho Cucamonga: 7-5
(after leading 7-1 entering the 7th inning)

San Jose: 1B Brian Ragira: 1 for 4, HR, 2 SO
San Jose: C Trevor Brown: 2 for 3, SO

San Jose: SP Chris Stratton: 6.0+ IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 3 K--1 HR
San Jose: RP Bryce Bandilla: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Ragira hit his 10th HR.  Brown was one of three Giants with two hits each.  His AVG remains below .220.

Stratton allowed just 1 R through 6.0 IP before not retiring any of his four batters in the 7th inning.  He ended the night with a 5.01 ERA.  Bandilla had 2 K in a perfect 9th inning for his 2nd save.

A-: Augusta lost to Kannapolis 1-0
(allowing the game's lone run in the 9th inning)

Augusta: RF Tyler Horan: 1 for 3, BB, SO

Augusta: SP Luis Ysla: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K--1 HB

Horan had one of the GreenJackets' three hits (all singles) and one of their three walks.

With 6.2 scoreless IP, Ysla improved his ERA to 2.34--second lowest in the Sally League.

ssA: Salem-Keizer defeated Everett 6-4

The Volcanoes got three big flies--Mende's 2nd HR in the 2nd inning, Callaway's 2nd's HR in the 6th inning, and Ewing's 3rd HR in the 8th inning.

Miller had allowed at least 2 ER in each of his first six starts, but tonight he delivered 6.0 scoreless IP.  His ERA remains above 5.50.

R: Scottsdale had an off-day

DSL: Gigantes lost to Nationals 8-5

Dominican: CF Mike Edie: 2 for 5, 2B, SO, E
Dominican: SP Victor Concepcion: 5.2 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K--1 WP

Edie hit his 7th double and a single, raising his AVG to .299.  Concepcion had a season-high 8 K in his ninth start.
