Monday highlight from the Giants' farm: Adalberto Mejia had 5.0 scoreless IP.

AAA: Fresno had the first day of its three-day all-star break

With five of the flying Squirrels' seven walks, middle infielders Stromsmoe and Duffy each reached base four times.  Parker, who had his 6th triple, reached base three times.

Mejia had his most effective start this year, facing just one batter over the minimum in 5.0 scoreless IP.  He threw 59 pitches (42 strikes).  Hall, the fourth of the Squirrels relievers, finished the shutout.

With three more singles, Bednar is hitting .340 through his first dozen Cal League games.  Blair had multiple hits for the third time in his last four games, raising his AVG to .303.  The Athletics' Reddick hit a 2-run HR in the 1st inning and reached base in each of his other four plate appearances as well.

Biagini had his worst start this year, allowing a season-high 7 R in a season-low 1.2 IP.

ssA: Salem-Keizer defeated Everett 6-4 (10 innings)

Relaford had three of the Volcanoes' seven hits, including his 5th double.  Mende, who is in his fourth pro season but first season with the Giants, connected for a two-run HR in the 10th inning.

Leenhouts had his sixth consecutive start without issuing a walk but his second straight start yielding 4 ER.  His ERA is 3.82.  Gardeck struck out four of his eight batters.

Lacen's 1st XBH as a pro was one of just three hits for the rookie Giants.

Making his second start among five appearances, Melo allowed a season-high 4 ER.   Maples, whom the Cubs signed two years ago for an over-slot $2.5 million bonus, and Fujikawa, who was making his fourth appearance since Tommy John surgery, shut down the rookie Giants through the first four frames.

Edie was the lone Gigante to reach base twice.  Reyes has been rather hittable, allowing 7+ H in three of his eight starts.  He has a .336 BAA with 47 H in 34.1 IP.
