Happy birthday to Hensley Meulens! In celebration, may the Giants hit a lot of balls really well and score runs and make him look good. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Steven Okert: Lightly Heralded Lefty Dissecting Cal League
Fangraphs offers a glowing take on Steven Okert, the San Jose closer who will certainly not be a horrible disappointment when he gets to Richmond. No, we should all get our hopes up, because the Eastern League is really a pitchers' league, so any top pitching prospects the Giants have will go there and thrive. It's totally inconceivable that someone who's dominated the Cal League like Okert wouldn't do well in AA, so the best plan for us as fans is to take it for granted that he will still be excellent as he moves up levels, and to assume that if he is traded, it will probably be as the centerpiece of a David Price or Chase Utley deal.

Ten things you probably don't know about MLB replay
The new replay system's been in place for almost three months now, so let's take a look at how it's been used and who's been good at it. The leader in getting calls overturned is none other than our very own Bruce Bochy, who's been successful on 13 of his 18 challenges. And even better, we've gotten to watch him jog out for every one, his ambling Bochy Shuffle assuredly inspiring dance moves all over the Bay Area. This truly is a golden era of Giants baseball.

San Diego Padres fire general manager Josh Byrnes
Omar Minaya is back, and he's in the NL West! This is a definite upgrade for the Padres, in that their goal is obviously sustained mediocrity, since they are the Padres. No one could embody this better than Omar Minaya, whose first move as acting GM is expected to be a trade for Ryan Howard, who he will then sign to an extension. You can't let talent like that get away!
