Tuesday's most notable from the Giants' farm: Matt Duffy had three hits.
AAA: Fresno lost to El Paso 5-4
Fresno: RF Chris Dominguez: 2 for 4, 2B, SB
Fresno: SP Jose De Paula: 3.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 WP
Fresno: RP Mitch Lively: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
With his 4th double and a single, Dominguez was the lone Grizzly to reach base twice. He raised his AVG to .280 but, with just 3 BB among 100 AB, still has a sub-.300 OBP.
After one relief appearance, De Paula made his first start. He struck out nearly half his batters (6 of 13) while throwing 52 pitches (36 strikes) in 3.0 IP. Lively made his second relief appearance after five straight starts. He provided long relief with 4.0 IP.
AA: Richmond lost to Harrisburg 5-1
(allowing four runs in the 5th inning)
Richmond: SS Matt Duffy: 3 for 4, SB
Richmond: SP Kelvin Marte: 4.1 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 0 K
Richmond: RP Phil McCormick: 2.0 IP, 3 K
Harrisburg: SP A.J. Cole: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K--1 WP
With three singles, Duffy was the lone Flying Squirrel to reach base twice. He raised his AVG to .299 and got his 6th SB.
With 14 ER over his last three starts, Marte's ERA has risen to a devilish 6.66. Nearly half his batters (10 of 22) reached base. McCormick had 3 K over perfect 7th and 8th innings. Cole, perhaps a top 100 prospect for the Nationals, had his best start this year, at least from a statistical perspective. For the first time in six starts, he did not allow a run and had new season highs with 7 K and 6.0 IP. He has been rather hittable so far this year with 38 H and 23 K in 28.1 IP.
A+: San Jose defeated Modesto 6-4
(rallying for three runs in the 8th inning)
San Jose: CF Jesus Galindo: 2 for 4, 2B, BB, SO, SB
San Jose: RF Chuckie Jones: 2 for 3, BB, SO
San Jose: SP Martin Agosta: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 K--1 HR, 1 WP
San Jose: RP Tyler Mizenko: 1.0 IP, 1 K
Galindo, who had his 9th double and 9th SB, and Jones both reached base three times for the Giants. Galindo has a .331 AVG, while Jones' AVG is just .216.
With 13 ER in 13.0 IP over his last three starts, Agosta has an ERA above 7.00 through five starts this year. Mizenko pitched a perfect 8th inning.
