Monday highlights from the Giants' farm: Adam Duvall homered while reaching base three times, Matt Duffy had four hits, and Joe Kurrasch had 5.0 scoreless IP.
AAA: Fresno defeated Albuquerque 5-3
(rallying for four runs in the 9th inning)
Fresno: 1B Adam Duvall: 2 for 3, HR, 2B, BB
Fresno: SS Ydwin Villegas: 1 for 3, 3B, BB
Fresno: SP Mike Kickham: 7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K--1 HR, 1 WP
Duvall's 9th HR was a solo shot in the 6th inning that scored the Grizzlies' lone run before their 9th inning rally. He also hit his 2nd double and walked. Villegas's 2nd triple was the Grizzlies' other XBH.
Kickham has pitched well against the Isotopes. In his two starts against them, he has allowed just 2 R in 15.0 IP. In his other five starts, he has allowed 16 R in 32.0 IP.
AA: Richmond defeated Harrisburg 8-2
(scoring six runs over the first two innings)
Richmond: SS Matt Duffy: 4 for 5, 2 2B, E
Richmond: LF Devin Harris: 2 for 4, 2B, BB, SO
Richmond: SP Jack Snodgrass: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
Richmond: RP Cody Hall: 1.0 IP, 1 K
Duffy had a big game with four hits, including his 5th and 6th doubles. The four-hit performance extended his hitting streak to nine game and raised his AVG to .282. Harris also doubled while reaching base three times.
Making his fourth start in six appearances, Snodgrass had new season highs with 7 K and 5.2 IP. He has a 1.08 ERA through 25.0 IP. Hall pitched a perfect 9th inning. He has allowed 3 ER in two of his eleven appearances but allowed no runs in the other nine appearances.
A+: San Jose lost to Modesto 6-1
(allowing five runs over the 6th and 7th innings)
San Jose: CF Jesue Galindo: 2 for 4, 2 3B, SO
San Jose: SP Joe Kurrasch: 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K
Galindo hit his 1st and 2nd triples. That is practically a season's worth for him since surprisingly (at least surprising to me) the speedster has never had more than three triples in any of his previous pro seasons.
Kurrasch, who made twelve starts last year, made his first start this year after a couple relief appearances. He faced just two batters over the minimum in 5.0 scoreless IP. He threw 61 pitches (41 strikes).
A-: Augusta lost to Greenville 13-3
(allowing ten runs over the 4th through 7th innings)
Augusta: 3B Brandon Bednar: 3 for 5, 2B, SO, GiDP
Augusta: RF Tyler Horan: 2 for 4, 2B
Augusta: C Leo Rojas: 2 for 4, 2B, 2 PB
Augusta: SP Chase Johnson: 4.1 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 6 K--1 IBB, 2 WP
Augusta: RP Jake Smith: 1.1 IP, 2 K
Bednar, Horan, and Rojas each doubled while combining for seven of the GreenJackets' thirteen hits.
Making his sixth start, Johnson allowed new season highs with 6 R and 4 BB. Nearly half his batters (11 of 23) reached base, and his ERA rose to nearly 4.00.
