Saturday highlight from the Giants' farm: Austin Fleet had 6.0 scoreless IP.
AAA: Fresno lost to Sacramento 12-3
(allowing eight runs over the first three innings)
Fresno: SS Nick Noonan: 1 for 4, HR, E
Fresno: LF Darren Ford: 2 for 3, SB, PO
Sacramento: C Stephen Vogt: 2 for 4, HR, 2B, BB, 2 SO
Fresno: SP Chris Heston: 1.0+ IP, 7 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 0 K--1 HR, 1 HB
Fresno: RP Dan Runzler: 2.0 IP, 2 K
Noonan's 2nd HR was the lone XBH for the Grizzlies. Ford was one of two Grizzlies with two hits. The 28-year-old entered the night hitting .250/.358/.324 through 68 AB. Vogt, who appeared in 47 games for the Athletics last year, homered, doubled, and walked. His OPS is now close to 1.000 through 88 AB.
Heston allowed 2 R in the 1st inning and then did not retire any of his six batters in the 2nd inning. The 5 ER were a season high, raising his ERA to nearly 4.50. Runzler pitched perfect 7th and 8th innings.
AA: Richmond defeated Bowie 4-1
(after leading 3-0 entering the 4th inning)
Richmond: CF Tyler Graham: 3 for 4, 2 2B, SB, CS
Richmond: 2B Kelby Tomlinson: 2 for 4, 2B
Richmond: SP Austin Fleet: 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K--1 WP
Graham continues to hit very well, today adding his 6th and 7th doubles, plus a single, to raise his AVG to .307. He also has a 23/5 SB/CS line. Tomlinson had his 3rd double, plus a single.
Fleet faced just three batters over the minimum in 6.0 scoreless IP. It was his longest appearance of the year (in three starts among seventeen appearances).
A+: San Jose lost to Inland Empire 4-0
San Jose: LF Shawn Payne: 1 for 3, 2B, SO
San Jose: SP Ryan Bradley: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Payne's 11th double (since his promotion to the Cal League) was one of just three hits for the Giants.
Bradley allowed just 2 R--one in the 1st inning and another in the 3rd inning--but that was enough to credit him with the loss.
A- Augusta defeated Lexington 7-4
(scoring all seven runs in the 6th inning)
Augusta: C Ty Ross: 2 for 3, 2 BB
Augusta: 1B Ryan Tuntland: 2 for 2, 2B, 2 BB
Augusta: SP Matthew Lujan: 7.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K--1 WP
Ross and Tuntland both reached base four times, combining for four of the GreenJackets' seven hit and four of their eight walks.
Lujan allowed more than 1 ER for just the second time this year (in eight starts among ten appearances), but it was nonetheless good enough to improve his W-L record to 6-2.
DSL: Giants lost to Yankees1 11-9
Dominican: CF Mikey Edie: 3 for 4, HBP, SB
Dominican: RP Shawn Gomez: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
Edie singled three times in his pro debut. Gomez, who is returning for his third DSL campaign, provided 4.0 scoreless IP in long relief.
