After holding hitters to a .210 AVG in his four April starts, Berken has a BAA closer to .333 in his six May starts.  His ERA is now above 4.00.

AA: Richmond defeated Altoona 5-4 (completing yesterday's suspended game)
(after scoring four runs in the 5th inning)

Richmond: SP Kelvin Marte: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Richmond: RP Hunter Strickland: 1.0 IP, 1 K

Harris connected for his 5th HR this year while reaching base three times (although both hits were yesterday).

After Marte pitched five innings yesterday, today four Flying Squirrels relievers pitched an innings each, including Strickland, who pitched a perfect 8th inning against his former team.  (He made 23 appearances for the Curve two years ago.)

AA: Richmond defeated Altoona 6-3 (8 innings)

Richmond: SS Matt Duffy: 3 for 3, 3B, BB
Richmond: PH Ricky Oropesa: 1 for 1, HR

Richmond: SP Ty Blach: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K--1 HR, 1 HB
Richmond: RP Derek Law: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K

Duffy reached base in all four plate appearances, including once via his 1st triple.  Oropesa ended the game in walk-off fashion.  His 2nd HR was a pinch-hit, one-out, three-run HR in the first extra inning.

Blach had a season-high 6 K.  But with a relatively high pitch count throwing 85 pitches (55 strikes) in 4.0 IP, he had his second shortest start this year.  With 4 K, Law had multiple strikeouts for the first time in his last seven appearances.  With 13 BB this year, he has surpassed his total from last year (12 BB).

A+: San Jose lost to Stockton 8-1
(allowing seven runs over the 3rd and 4th innings)

San Jose: CF Jesus Galindo: 1 for 2, 3 BB, SO, SB

San Jose: SP Kendry Flores: 4.0 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 2 K--2 HR

Galindo reached base four times, raising his OBP to nearly .350, and had his 13th SB.

Flores allowed a season-high 7 ER, raising his ERA to nearly 6.00.

A-: Augusta defeated Lexington 6-4
(scoring the game's funal two runs in the 7th and 8th innings)

Augusta: 3B Ryder Jones: 1 for 5, HR, 2 SO
Augusta: DH Jeremy Sy: 2 for 4, HR, 2B

Augusta: SP Keury Mella: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--2 WP, 1 E
Augusta: RP Ray Black: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Jones and Sy connected for their 5th and 2nd HRs.

Mella has been consistent since mid-April, at least in terms of the runs he has allowed.  In his last seven starts, he has allowed at least 2 ER but never more than 4 ER, and he has allowed exactly 3 ER four times.  His season ERA is now 4.10.  Black had 2 K in a perfect 8th inning.  He has 15 K in 8.1 IP over nine appearances.
