Fresno: CF Gary Brown: 1 for 3, BB, 2 SO, CS
Fresno: SP Jose De Paula: 1.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K--2 HR
Brown had one of the Grizzlies' four hits (all singles) and one of their two walks. He entered the night hitting .264/.320/.380 through 208 AB.
De Paula allowed nearly two thirds of his batters (7 of 11) to reach base. His fifth start was his shortest this year, and his ERA rose above 4.50.
AA: Richmond defeated Altoona 7-5
(after scoring four runs in the 2nd inning)
Richmond: 2B Kelby Tomlinson: 3 for 5, 3B, SB
Richmond: SP Adalberto Mejia: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K--1 HR
Richmond: RP Cody Hall: 1.0 IP, 2 K
Tomlinson had his 1st triple, a couple singles, and his 19th SB. Tonight was a relatively rare good game as he has hit just .228/.299/.260 through 127 AB in his third full pro season.
Mejia has allowed 4+ ER in five of his last six starts, and he now has a 6.15 ERA after nine starts. Hall had 2 K in a perfect 9th as he received his 3rd save this year. His component stats are now 20 H, 6 BB, 1 HR and 25 K in 20.2 IP.
A+: San Jose defeated Stockton 2-1 (10 innings)
San Jose: DH Elliott Blair: 2 for 4, BB, 2 SO
San Jose: 3B Mitch Delfino: 2 for 5, 2B, SO, SB
San Jose: SP Joe Biagini: 8.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K--1 HB
Blair and Delfino each had two of the Giants' eight hits. Both have AVGs above .300.
Biagini went a career-high 8.0 IP, allowing just a single run and facing just two batters over the minimum. It seems like this may be the longest appearance for a Giants pitcher in the low minors so far this year. With 10 K and 2 BB over his last three starts, he has improved his K/BB ratio to (just above) 2.00.
A-: Augusta hosting Savannah postponed by rain
