Monday highlights from the Giants' farm: Ty Blach had 6.2 scoreless IP, and Chris Heston allowed just 1 R in 6.0 IP.
AAA: Fresno defeated El Paso 2-1 (13 innings)
Fresno: RF Tyler Colvin: 3 for 6, 2B

El Paso: LF Travis Buck: 1 for 3, HR, 2 BB, SO
Fresno: SP Chris Heston: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K--1 HR, 2 HB
With three hits each, Colvin and Noonan combined for nearly half the Grizzlies' thirteen hits. After a cold start, Colvin has multiple hits in five of his last eight games to raise his AVG above .250. Buck, whom the Athletics drafted in 2005 and who is now in Padres organization, homered in the 3rd inning for the Chihuahuas' only run. He reached base three times.
After allowing 5 ER in his first start this year, Heston has allowed just 6 ER over his subsequent four starts. His ERA is now 3.45.
AA: Richmond lost to Bowie 3-2
(allowing all three runs in the 9th inning)
Richmond: LF Ryan Lollis: 1 for 3, 3B, BB
Richmond: SP Ty Blach: 6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Lollis, one of three Flying Squirrels to reach base twice, hit his 1st triple. It was his 1st XBH in 18 games this year (36 AB).
Coming back from his rain-shortened start (1.0 IP) six days ago, Blach had his longest start of the year with 6.2 scoreless IP. He has a 1.54 ERA despite a K/IP barely over 0.33 (8 K in 23.1 IP).
A+: San Jose lost to Modesto 11-3
(allowing eight runs over the 3rd and 4th innings)
San Jose: SS Blake Miller: 1 for 3, BB
Modesto: SS Trevor Story: 4 for 5, 3B, 2B
San Jose: SP Kendry Flores: 3.0 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 HB
Miller was the lone Giant to reach base twice. Story, whom the Rockies drafted 45th overall three years ago, endured a rough 2013 campaing hitting just .233/.305/.394, but this year repeating the Cal League, he has hit .314/.416/.512 through 86 AB.
Making his fifth start, Flores allowed a season-high 6 R in a season-low 3.0 IP. Although his ERA is above 4.25, his component stats are solid with 22 H, 7 BB and 25 K in 25.1 IP.
