Saturday highlights from the Giants' farm: Myles Schroder reached base in all five plate appearances, and Joe Biagini allowed just 1 R in 6.0 IP.

AAA: Fresno lost to Reno 9-2
(after trailing 7-2 entering the 5th inning)

Fresno: CF Gary Brown: 2 for 5, SO
Fresno: 2B Joe Panik: 2 for 5, SO
Reno: RF Roger Kieschnick: 2 for 3, 2 HR, 2 BB

Fresno: SP Mitch Lively: 3.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 3 BB, 5 K--4 HR

Brown and Panik each had two of the Grizzlies' ten hits (all singles).  Both have AVGs close to .285.  Kieschnick, the ex-Giant lost to the Diamondbacks organization on waivers earlier this year, homered twice while reaching base four times in his first game against his former organization.

Lively had an ineffective start.  He had not surrendered a HR in his previous three starts but gave up 4 HR in this start.  Over half his opposing batters (11 of 21) reached base as his ERA rose to 8.47.

AA: Richmond defeated Altoona 7-3
(securing the game with four runs in the 5th inning)

Richmond: C Myles Schroder: 2 for 2, 3 BB
Richmond: 1B Angel Villalona: 2 for 5, 3B

Richmond: SP Kyle Crick: 3.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 BB, 4 K--1 WP
Richmond: RP Jack Snodgrass: 3.1 IP, 1 R, 4 BB, 2 K

Schroder reached base in all five plate appearances.  Batting cleanup, he raised his OBP to .380.  Defensively, he also picked off two runners at first base.  Villalona's 1st triple, which was his first triple since playing in the AZL in 2007, was the Flying Squirrels' lone XBH.

Crick struggled to find the strike zone, issuing 6 BB while throwing just 41 of 83 pitches for strikes.  In long relief, Snodgrass also struggled to find the strike zone.  He issued 4 BB while throwing just 28 of 58 pitches for strikes.

A+: San Jose lost to Bakersfield 7-6
(scoring five runs over the first two innings but later allowing five runs in the 8th inning)

San Jose: CF Jesus Galindo: 3 for 5, 2 2B
San Jose: 2B Nick Noonan: 2 for 5, HR, 2B

San Jose: SP Joe Biagini: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

Playing his first game this year, Noonan homered and doubled.  Galindo's three hits, including his 4th and 5th doubles, paced the Giants' eleven-hit attack.

Biagini has delivered a quality start in two of his three starts this year.  He has a 2.93 ERA.

A-: Augusta defeated Lexington 5-2
(taking a 4-1 lead into the 4th inning)

Augusta: SS Ryder Jones; 2 for 4, 2B, SO, CS
Augusta: 1B Brandon Bednar: 1 for 4, HR, SO, E

Augusta: SP Matthew Lujan: 5.2 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K--1 WP
Augusta: RP Daniel Slania: 2.1 IP, 3 K

Jones' second straight multi-hit game raised his AVG to .241.  Bendar connected for his 1st HR this year.  He had 6 HRs in the NWL last summer.

Making his second start, Lujan came up one out shy of a quality start.  He has a 1.45 through four appearances.  Slania had 3 K in 2.1 perfect IP.  His component stats through seven appearances include 10 H, 3 BB, and 14 K in 13.1 IP.
