There's a good reason why Hunter Pence throws like that
Did you hear that nugget about Hunter Pence's spine in the broadcast last night, then forget about it in your haste to make the most insightful comment about the Cardinals' home run barrage (Admittedly, "LOL GIANTS" does carry a lot of meaning)? Here's the slightly longer explanation, about the physiological problems that lead to Hunter Pence being Hunter Pence. So, see, he's not an alien. Unless . . . there's some kind of alien technology out there . . . that could fake this medical condition . . . to throw us off the trail . . .
MY GOD. HE'S BEEN THREE STEPS AHEAD OF US THE WHOLE TIME.
MLB players concerned about not having a voice concerning changes to speed up pace of play
In the AFL, baseball is experimenting with several ways to speed up the pace of games, and players are worried that they won't have input on any new rules. While the snarky observer could comment that the players never sought input on their time-consuming pre-AB rituals, they do have a point here. Active players should be involved in the process to change how they have to play the game, because otherwise you start on an authoritarian path that glorifies the owners over the people who we as fans care about. Do you know what's at the end of that road? The NFL. And no sports league could endure a fate more hideous than becoming the NFL.
Rung Up: Are Postseason Umpires Actually Baseball’s Most Accurate?
no
Oh, did you want more analysis than "Phil Cuzzi and Joe West therefore no"? If so, this is the link for you. Umpires selected for the postseason aren't better than other umpires, and postseason calls aren't better than other calls. While this may be good news for people who like to yell "HUMAN ELEMENT" in crowded restaurants, for the rest of us, it's pretty annoying. And though MLB could try to make some changes, they're pretty busy with those pace of game experiments that probably won't pan out and with that blue-ribbon committee trying to get the A's a new ballpark. But once those things are settled, I'm sure this umpire issue will get sorted out.

What are the postseason managers thinking while sitting on the bench? We finally have the answer
I'm gonna come clean with something you might not know about me: I really like dumb jokes. And there are plenty of dumb jokes in here, making it pretty much my wheelhouse. And then add to that a photoshopped picture of a chinchilla in a baseball hat. When it comes down to it, what else could you even want from the Internet? What else indeed?
