Thursday highlights from the Giants' farm: Chris Stratton and Craig Westcott each allowed just 1 R in their starts.  Also notable, Joe Panik homered and singled.

AAA: Fresno lost to Iowa 2-1

Fresno: 1B Johnny Monell: 2 for 4

Fresno: SP Mitch Lively: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K--1 HR
Fresno: RP Jake Dunning: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Monell had two of the Grizzlies' four hits (all singles).

Lively delivered his third straight quality start.  He has a 3.94 in fifteen starts.  Dunning pitched a perfect 8th inning.  In four appearances since being optioned back to the minors, he has 2 H, 1 BB, 0 R and 3 K in 4.0 IP.

AA: Richmond defeated Portland 4-1

Richmond: SS Joe Panik: 2 for 5, HR, SO
Richmond: C Tyler LaTorre: 3 for 4

Richmond: SP Craig Westcott: 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 4 BB, 4 K

Panik hit his 4th HR.  His previous 3 HRs all came in June.  LaTorre's three singles paced the Flying Squirrels' nine-hit attack.

Westcott had just his second quality start in his last ten starts.  He has a 4.12 ERA after 23 starts.

A+: San Jose had an off-day

A-: Augusta lost to Greensboro 6-1
(allowing five runs in the 8th inning)

Augusta: SS Travious Relaford: 2 for 3, 2B, CS
Greensboro: DH Colin Moran: 2 for 4, HR

Augusta: SP Chris Stratton: 6.2 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K--1 HR

Relaford's 5th double this year and a single were two of just four hits for the GreenJackets.  Moran, whom the Marlins drafted sixth overall this year, hit his 2nd pro HR (in 74 AB).

Stratton yielded just his 5th HR this year in 113.0 IP.  Otherwise, he did not allow a run, improving his ERA to 3.11 after nineteen starts.

ssA: Salem-Keizer defeated Everett 9-6

Among six Volcanoes with multiple hits, Ragira and Horan each had three hits, raising their AVGs to .273 and .276.  Bednar led off the 4th inning with his 4th HR.

Making his sixth start, Johnson allowed a career-high 6 H and 5 R.  His ERA remains below 2.00, though.  Jones and Slania pitched perfect 7th and 9th innings.

Scottsdale: SS Rando Moreno: 1 for 2, 3 BB, 2 SB, CS

Scottsdale: SP Carlos Diaz: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Moreno reached base four times with one of the rookie Giants' five hits and three of their eleven(!) walks.  He has a 9/4 SB/CS line.

Diaz's 4.0 scoreless IP improved his ERA to 4.50.

DSL: Gigantes lost to Orioles1 6-3

Dominican: DH Kleiber Rivas: 2 for 2, 2 BB
Dominican: SP Eber Guzman: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 WP

Rivas (18.1 y.o.) reached base in all four plate appearances, raising his OBP to .379 in his second pro season.  Guzman (20.4 y.o.) has allowed 4 ER in three of his last four starts, raising his ERA above 3.50.
