Tuesday highlight from the Giants' farm: Clayton Blackburn had 6.0 scoreless IP.  Also notable, Javier Herrera had four hits, and Ricky Oropesa homered and singled.

AAA: Fresno lost to Sacramento 2-1

Fresno: 2B Tony Abreu: 2 for 3, 2 2B

Fresno: SP Justin Fitzgerald: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 9 K--1 HB

Abreu, playing his the second game on his current rehab stint, doubled twice to have two of the Grizzlies' five hits.

Fitzgerald struck out better than a third (9 of 26) his batters but saw his W-L record drop to 2-7 nonetheless.  While the 9 K in his thirteenth PCL start were not a season high, this was his first time with more than 6 K in a PCL start.

AA: Richmond lost to Reading 9-8
(scoring six runs in the top of the 9th inning to take the lead but allowing two runs in the bottom half)

Herrera's four hits paced the Flying Squirrels' thirteen-hit attack and raised his AVG to .298.  Villalona hit his 10th and 11th doubles.  Duvall hit his 16th HR, and Ciriaco led off the 9th inning with his 2nd HR.

Snodgrass began the year with an ERA close to 2.50 through fourteen starts but has had an ERA just above 5.50 in his subsequent ten starts.

A+: San Jose lost to Visalia 6-1
(allowing the tying run in the 8th inning and five runs in the 9th inning)

San Jose: 1B Ricky Oropesa: 2 for 4, HR, SO
San Jose: 2B Trevor Brown: 2 for 4, 2B, E

San Jose: SP Clayton Blackburn: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

Oropesa led off the 2nd inning with his 8th HR in the last two months.  Brown entered the game hitting just 4 for 38 in his first nine Cal League games but hit safely twice in this game.

Bouncing back from his last start (5 ER on 3 HR), Blackburn struck out nearly a third (7 of 22) his batters.  This, his 23rd start this year, was his first start since his first start this year not allowing a run, improving his ERA to 3.65.

A-: Augusta defeated Lexington 6-2

Augusta: 1B Joseph Rapp: 2 for 3, 2B, BB

Augusta: SP Martin Agosta: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K--1 WP

Payne and Rapp both reached base three times for the GreenJackets.

Agosta's 6 K were the most in any of his six starts since the SAL's all-star break.  In those six starts, his component stats are 14 H, 16 BB and 21 K in 23.0 IP.

After a double and two singles, the 18-year-old Fargas has a .289/.381/.319 line through his first 72 pro AB.  Arroyo connected for his 2nd pro HR.

Mella faced just one batter over the minimum in 4.0 scoreless IP.  Gonzalez struck out three of his seven batters.  They also combined for a 8/0 GO/FO line.

DSL: Gigantes trailing Red Sox 8-3 when suspended in 9th inning due to rain
(the second game of the best-of-three series is scheduled to be completed tomorrow)

Dominican: C Miguel Gomez: 1 for 4, HR
Dominican: RP Reymi Rodriguez: 4.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K--1 HB

Gomez's (20.8) big fly was one of just four hits for the Gigantes.  After the Gigantes' starter retired just one of his six batters, Rodriguez (18.11 y.o.) provided effective long relief.
