Joe Blogs: A Dozen Days in the life of Barry Bonds
Oh, how I love it when Joe Posnanski riffs on Barry Bonds. Because it turns out Barry Bonds was really, really good. A freak of chemistry, sure. But really, really good. Posnanski tries to explain just how good.

Buster Posey at third base? It could happen | CSN Bay Area
Barf. But get used to these stories now. You're going to see a lot of them over the next decade. At some point, it's going to make sense. Again, the Joe Torre career path is a pretty good comp, which means the actual switch would be about four or five years away.

The other takeaway from this article: The Giants would be open to moving Brandon Belt to left field if it meant getting a slugger. Hellloooooooo, Jose Abreu.

How the Red Sox almost added SF's Brandon Belt to their pipeline of pitching - The Providence Journal
"One of the budding young stars in the game."

Juan Marichal of the San Francisco Giants attacking John Roseboro ... colorized
If you haven't checked out Reddit's colorized-history subreddit, this is a pretty good opportunity to start. People colorize old photos as a hobby, and the results are spectacular. Here's a Giants-related one, which is a good excuse to check out the whole place.

(Not that I'm condoning what Marichal did. It's still a heinous act. But I'm fascinated with this colorization thing.)

Best Baseball Books - The 20 Best Baseball Books Ever
A slideshow. But a good slideshow. I link only the best slide shows. And 20 nonfiction baseball books is a dandy reason for a slideshow. There are more than a few on this list that I haven't read, and I need to. But Glory of Their Times is still my favorite.

How well does the home team play with a cat on the field? - Baseball Nation
Larry Granillo writes a column for BN every Thursday, and I'm jealous of his idea just about every time. This one takes a look at kitties on the field! Here, kitty kitty! Here, kitty kitty! Here, kitty kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty,  kitty kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty!
