Thursday highlights from the Giants' farm: Ty Blach had 7.0 scoreless IP, Devin Harris had 3 XBH, and Javier Herrera reached base in all five plate appearances.  Also notable, Jeff Arnold, Myles Schroder, and Ben Turner each homered in multi-hit efforts.

AAA: Fresno lost to Las Vegas 5-0

Fresno: SP Justin Fitzgerald: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 6 BB, 6 K
Fresno: RP Jake Dunning: 1.1 IP, 1 K

Monell and Tanaka each reached base three times.  The rest of the Grizzlies lineup combined for three singles and a hit batter, but managed to negate much of that while also hitting three GiDP.

Fitzgerald allowed nearly half (12 of 26) his batters to reach base.  The 6 BB seem like a career high.  Dunning had 1.1 perfect IP.  He has a 1.38 ERA in 31 PCL appearances this year.

AA: Richmond defeated Altoona 9-7

Richmond: LF Javier Herrera: 3 for 3, 2B, 2 BB

Richmond: SS Skyler Stromsmoe: 3 for 5, 3B, SO, E

Richmond: SP Jack Snodgrass: 6.1 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 8 K

Herrera reached base in all five plate appearances.  Duvall and Stromsmoe joined Herrera with three hits each.

Snodgrass completed six innings for just the second time in his last nine starts.  Despite an ERA above 6.00 in July, his season ERA remains below 3.50.

A+: San Jose defeated Stockton 8-1

Harris had three XBH with his 22nd HR and 37th and 38th doubles.  Also going deep were Schroder with his 5th HR and Arnold with his 13th HR.

Bouncing back from his last start (6 ER in 6.1 IP), Blach delivered 7.0 scoreless IP, improving his ERA to 2.79.  The Athletics' Anderson was roughed up in his rehab start for 5 ER.

A-: Augusta defeated Lexington 6-3 (12 innings)

Turner and Cain hit their 2nd and 9th HRs.  Rapp's three hits lifted his AVG to .256.  Starling, whom the Royals drafted fifth overall two years ago, reached base four times.  Since the SAL's all-star break, he has hit .270/.360/.413 in 189 AB.

Stratton came up a bit shy of achieving his fourth straight quality start.  His component stats since the all-star break are 63 H, 21 BB and 47 K in 59.2 IP.

ssA: Salem-Keizer lost to Boise 16-11
(after leading 9-1 entering the 3rd inning)

Salem-Keizer: SS John Polonius: 4 for 5, 2B, E

Salem-Keizer: SP Jake Smith: 3.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K--1 WP

Batting at the bottom of the order, Polonius had four hits to lead the Volcanoes' seventeen-hit attack.  Tuntland was one of five other Volcanoes with three hits, including his 2nd HR and 5th double.

Smith has allowed just 1 ER in each of his two starts.

R: Giants defeated Rangers 4-3

Scottsdale: 2B Will Callaway: 3 for 5, 2 2B

Scottsdale: SP Keury Mella: 3.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

With his 7th and 8th doubles, plus a single, Callaway was the lone rookie Giant to reach base twice.

Mella, who was followed by eight relievers, has not pitched into the 4th inning in any of his last four starts.

DSL: Gigantes defeated Orioles1 4-3

Dominican: RF-LF Carlos Valdez: 1 for 4, HR
Dominican: SP Jonathan Loaisiga: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 4 K--1 PO, 1 E

Valdez (19.2 y.o.) hit his 4th HR, matching his total from last year.  Loaisiga (18.9 y.o.) had his fourth straight start with 1 ER or less.
