Thursday highlight from the Giants' farm: Eric Surkamp allowed 1 R in 7.0 IP.

AAA: Fresno defeated Omaha 6-1

Batting in the final third of the Giants' batting order, Quiroz and Jurica both reached base three times.

Since making his MLB debut, Surkamp has had 1 ER in 7.0 IP in each of his four starts.  In those four starts, his component stats have been 19 H, 5 BB and 21 K in 28.0 IP.  The Royals' Lamb, a top 100 prospect before undergoing Tommy John surgery a couple years ago, made his PCL debut.  Verdugo, the ex-Giants prospect, pitched a scoreless 8th inning.  He had a 4.71 ERA through eleven PCL starts this year and has made his last three appearances out of the bullpen.

AA: Richmond defeated Akron 9-6
(rallying for six runs in the 8th inning)

Herrera, who had his 21st and 22nd SB, and Navarro, who was playing in just his 12th game this year, both reached base three times.

Rogers allowed nearly half (11 of 24) his batters to reach base base.  Bradley, making his first appearance in four weeks, had 3.0 perfect IP.

A+: San Jose lost to Modesto 4-3
(allowing two runs in the 8th inning)

San Jose: 1B Ricky Oropesa: 1 for 4, HR
San Jose: SS Bobby Haney: 2 for 3, SO

San Jose: SP Clayton Blackburn: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K

Oropesa's 7th HR (since his demotion) scored all three of the Giants' runs.  Haney's two singles accounted for half of the Giants' other four hits.

Blackburn allowed more than 1 ER for just the second time in his last seven starts.

A-: Augusta defeated Greenville 3-2 (12 innings)
(after rallying for two runs in the 9th inning)

The GreenJackets had just two hits until Robles' walk-off, RBI single ended the game.

In nine starts since the all-star break, Stratton has managed a sub-2.50 ERA, despite being rather hittable with 57 H and 45 K in 54.1 IP.  Kurrasch struck out five his eight batters.

Jones and Ragir both reached base three times.

For just the third time in a dozen starts, Johnson came up shy of 6.0 IP.  He has delivered at least 5.0 IP in all his starts and has a 2.33 ERA.  Montero has been dominant as the Volcanoes closer with 18 H, 4 BB and 33 K in 25.0 IP.

R: Giants lost to Indians 7-2

Scottsdale: 2B Will Callaway: 4 for 5
Scottsdale: 1B Jonathan Jones: 1 for 3, HR, BB

Scottsdale: SP Carlos Diaz: 3.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

Jones hit his 5th HR.  Callaway's four singles accounted for over half the rookie Giants' seven hits.  He has a .323 AVG.

Diaz allowed 3+ ER for the third time in starts.  He has averaged less than 4.0 IP per start.

DSL: Gigantes lost to Reds 9-6

Dominican: CF Gustavo Cabrera: 1 for 5, HR, 4 SO, E
Dominican: RP Dainer Revolledo: 4.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 2 K

Swinging for the fences?  Cabrera (17.6 y.o.) had 4 SO but his 1st pro HR.  His SO/AB ratio is now above 30.0%.  Revolledo's (19.8 y.o.) sixth pro appearance was his longest.
