Thursday highlights from the Giants' farm: Justin Fitzgerald, Chris Gloor, and Clayton Blackburn each allowed just 1 R in a combined 21.0 IP. Also notable, Mark Minicozzi had four hits, and Adam Duvall homered and singled.

AAA: Fresno defeated Round Round 2-1

Fresno: SS Ehire Adrianza: 1 for 3, 2B

Fresno: SP Justin Fitzgerald: 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K--1 WP
Fresno: RP Heath Hembree: 1.0 IP, 1 K

Adrianza's 3rd double was one of hits for the Grizzlies, maintaining his .333 AVG in the PCL.

Fitzgerald's eighth PCL start was perhaps his best. The 1 ER is his best mark in those eight starts, and he went longer than 5.1 IP for just the second time in eight PCL starts. Hembree pitched a perfect 9th inning for his 24th save.

AA: Richmond defeated Portland 6-5 (10 innings)

Richmond: 2B Joe Panik: 2 for 5, 2B, BB
Richmond: 3B Mark Minicozzi: 4 for 5, 2B, E
Richmond: DH Adam Duvall: 2 for 5, HR, SO

Richmond: SP Chris Gloor: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

Minicozzi's four hits, including his 26th double, raised his AVG to .332, which leads the ten-team Eastern League. Duvall homered for the third straight day. Panik had his 24th double, a single and a walk to reach base three times.

Gloor delivered a quality start for the third time in his last four starts. It may not be significant, but this start snapped a string of five straight starts allowing a home run.

A+: San Jose defeated Visalia 4-2

San Jose: CF Elliott Blair: 2 for 4, 2B, SO

San Jose: SP Clayton Blackburn: 8.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Blair hit his 12th double and a single as one of five Giants to reach base twice.

Blackburn delivered his second straight start with 1 ER in 8.0 IP, which has improved his ERA to 3.81. In 8.0 IP, he threw just 89 pitches (58 strikes).

A-: Augusta defeated Charleston 2-0 (7 innings) in game 1
(completing a game began July 7)

Augusta: SS Matt Duffy: 1 for 1, BB, SB

Augusta: SP Chris Stratton: 3.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
Augusta: RP Jorge Bucardo: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 3 K--1 HB

Duffy, who is now in the Cal League, reached base in both plate appearances and also had his 17th SB.

After Strattons's 3.0 scoreless IP nearly a month ago, Bucardo finished the shutout with 4.0 scoreless IP. As part of the shutout, Bucardo also stranded both baserunners inherited with no outs.

defeated Charleston 5-4 (7 innings) in game 2

Augusta: SP Joan Gregorio: 4.0+ IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 5 K--1 WP

Payne and Robles each had two of the GreenJackets' seven hits. Both have .300+ AVGs. Rapp reached base in all three plate appearances, raising his OBP above .300.

Coming off his worst start of the year (8 ER in 2.0 IP), Gregorio issued a season-high 4 BB while completing less than 5.0 IP for just the third time in thirteen starts. After a 1.74 ERA in six first-half starts, he has a 6.31 ERA in seven second-half starts.

defeated Spokane 9-3

Salem-Keizer: CF Randy Ortiz: 4 for 6, 2 SB

Salem-Keizer: SP Chase Johnson: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Batting leadoff, Ortiz singled four times, raising his OPS above .700 after 110 AB.

Johnson, the Giants' third rounder this year, has allowed just 3 ER through five NWL starts. His components stats are 14 H, 5 BB and 18 K in 22.0 IP.

defeated Diamondbacks 4-3

Scottsdale: 1B Jonathan Jones: 1 for 3, HR, BB, SO

Scottsdale: SP Luis Ysla: 4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K

Jones connected for his 4th HR. Last summer he had 6 HRs in the AZL.

In his eighth start, Ysla had 4.0 perfect IP.

DSL: Gigantes
defeated Orioles1 2-1

Dominican: DH Nicol Parra: 3 for 4, SB
Dominican: SP Raffi Vizcaino: 5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 10 K

After just one hit in his previous seven games, Parra (19.0 y.o.) singled three times, raising his AVG to .262. In his tenth start, Vizcaino (17.8 y.o.) had a career-high 10 K, striking out better than half of his eighteen batters.
