Saturday highlights from the Giants' farm: Craig Westcott had 6.0 scoreless IP, and Ty Blach allowed just 1 R in 7.0 IP.

AAA: Fresno defeated Sacramento 5-2

Playing his first PCL game in a month, Perez had three of the Grizzlies' ten hits. Pill was one of three other Grizzlies with two hits.

Making his seventh start, Surkamp pitched into and completed the 6th inning for the first time this year. He allowed a season-high 7 H but finished with a quality start nonetheless. He threw 82 pitches (52 strikes). Runzler pitched a perfect 8th inning. He has not allowed a run in his last seven appearances, but his ERA remains above 4.50.

AA: Richmond lost to Akron 9-3

Parker had three of the Flying Squirrels' seven hits, raising his AVG to .238.

After allowing 4+ ER in each of his previous three starts, Westcott delivered 6.0 scoreless IP, while facing just four batters over the minimum. The four relievers who followed him combined to allowed 9 ER in the 7th and 8th innings, before Stromsmoe finished the game with a perfect 9th inning.

A+: San Jose defeated Visalia 5-1

San Jose: CF Chris Lofton: 3 for 4, 2B, 2 SB
San Jose: 2B Bobby Haney: 1 for 3, HR, SO

San Jose: SP Ty Blach: 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K

Lofton had three of the Giants' nine hits, raising his AVG to .257. He also had his 15th and 16th SB. Haney connected for his 2nd HR.

Blach allowed 1 ER or less for the eighth time in fifteen starts. He has a 2.61 ERA--one of just two (qualified) pitchers in the Cal League with an ERA below 3.25.

ssA: Salem-Keizer lost to Everett 14-8

Otero, who had just two hits in his previous nine games, hit his 1st double and a pair of singles to lead the Volcanoes' ten-hit attack. Bednar connected for his 1st pro HR. Peterson, the Mariners' first round pick this year, connected for his 4th and 5th HRs.

Mendoza, making his first start after five relief appearances, allowed just 1 R through 3.0 IP before the AquaSox offense exploded in the 4th inning.

Kay and Massoni each hit their 1st pro HRs.

Alvarado allowed a season-high 4 R in his third appearance (second start).

Medina (18.8 y.o.) reached base three times. He has hit just .167 through 72 AB this year after hitting .313 in 128 AB last year. Guzman (20.2 y.o.) had a season-high 9 K, raising his K/IP to an even 1.00 (30 K in 30.0 IP over six starts).
