Monday highlight from the Giants' farm: Rando Moreno had five hits.

Batting leadoff, Payne reached base four times. He has a .409 OBP in five Sally League games. Towards the bottom of the order, Robles had three hits, including his 5th and 6th doubles. The performance raised his OBP above .700 after 103 AB.

Walking four of his thirteen batters, Biagini did not get the opportunity to complete the 3rd inning. In his last five starts, he has issued 15 BB in 22.1 IP. McVay, the first of four GreenJackets relievers, stranded the three baserunners inherited from McVay but subsequently allowed 5 R charged to his own record. Both Biagini and McVay have ERAs above 4.50. Sims, whom the Braves drafted 21st overall a year ago, had one of his least effective starts, allowing half (13 of 26) his batters to reach base.

Tuntland, who entered the day with a sub-.300 SLG through his first 18 NWL games, connected for his 1st pro HR. Horan had two of the Volcanoes' five hits, raising his AVG to .284.

Young has not allowed an earned run through two NWL starts. McVey and Montero combined for 4 K in 3.0 perfect IP. Montero's component stats are 16 H, 3 BB and 26 K in 20.0 IP.

R: Giants defeated Angels 10-6

Moreno's five hits, including his 4th and 5th doubles, paced the rookie Giants' sixteen-hit attack and raised his AVG to .369. The 21-year-old has an OPS above .900 through his first 84 AB in the U.S. Arroyo, one of five other Giants with two hits, reached base four times. Multiple hits in six of his last eight games have raised his AVG above .300 and his OBP above .350.

Pino retired just half (6 of 12) his batters in a two-inning start. A season-high 3 ER raised his ERA to 4.50. He was followed by seven relievers who each had 1.0 IP.

DSL: Gigantes defeated White Sox 3-2

Dominican: PH-LF Carlos Cartagena: 2 for 4
Dominican: SP Olbis Parra: 7.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K--1 WP

Despite not being in the starting lineup, Cartagena (19.7 y.o.) was the lone Gigante with two hits. He has a .189 AVG through 74 AB. Parra (18.9 y.o.), making his ninth start, including his fourth against the White Sox, had a season-high 7.0 IP and matched his season-high 6 K.
