Sunday highlights from the Giants' farm: Edwin Escobar had 7.1 scoreless IP, and Matt Lujan allowed just 1 R in 7.0 IP.

AA: Fresno lost to Colorado Springs 7-2
(allowing five runs in the 7th inning)

Fresno: 1B Johnny Monell: 2 for 4, 2B, SO

Fresno: SP Austin Fleet: 6.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Monell's 22nd double and singled led the Grizzlies' offense.

Fleet delivered a quality start for the fourth time in six PCL starts. He has a 3.18 ERA in six PCL starts, a 4.04 ERA in all ten PCL appearances, and a 4.31 ERA over all his 23 appearances this year.

AA: Richmond defeated Akron 2-0

Richmond: SS Joe Panik: 1 for 3, HBP, SB
Richmond: RF Brett Krill: 2 for 4, 2B, SO

Richmond: SP Edwin Escobar: 7.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 K

Panik, who had his 10th HR, and Krill, who had his 10th double, both reached base twice for the Flying Squirrels.

Escobar had perhaps his best start of the year, including a season-high 7.1 IP while throwing 100 pitches (66 strikes). His 9 K matched a season-high. In his four double-A starts, he has 26 K in 24.0 IP.

A+: San Jose lost to Stockton 4-2

Stockton: SS Addison Russell: 3 for 4, 2B, BB, SO

San Jose: SS Jason Forjet: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 K--1 HR, 1 WP

Duffy hit his 5th HR this year. He and Oropesa both reached base twice. Russell, the Athletics' first round pick a year ago, reached base four times as the Ports' leadoff hitter.

Forjet's start was his longest outing in his last ten appearances. He matched a season-high with 3 ER. His ERA remains below 3.50.

A-: Augusta defeated Savannah 6-1

Augusta: RF Chuckie Jones: 2 for 4, 3B, SO

Augusta: SP Matthew Lujan: 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
Augusta: RP Steven Okert: 1.0 IP, 1 K

Jones hit his 2nd triple and a single as one of three GreenJackets with two hits. July has easily been his best of the season with an OPS close to .900 after an OPS below .650 each of the first three months.

Lujan's third straight start of 1 R in 7.0 IP improved his ERA to 2.66 after 50.2 IP. Okert pitched a perfect 9th inning, bringing his ERA below 3.00.

ssA: Salem-Keizer lost to Tri-City 5-4

Salem-Keizer: 3B Ryan Tuntland: 1 for 2, 2B, 2 BB, SO
Salem-Keizer: 2B Ryan Jones: 2 for 4, 2B, SB, E

Salem-Keizer: SP Nick Vander Tuig: 3.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Tuntland and Jones both reached base twice for the Volcanoes. Jones has a .397 AVG after 68 AB.

Vander Tuig yielded 3 ER in his first NWL start and third pro start.

R: Giants and Angels tied 8-8 (after 11 innings)

Scottsdale: 2B Rando Moreno: 3 for 6, 2 3B, SB

Scottsdale: SP Carlos Diaz: 4.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 HR, 1 BK

Displaying his speed, Moreno had his 2nd and 3rd triples and his 5th SB. His three hits raised his AVG to .338.

Diaz allowed 4 ER--the most allowed in any of his five starts. He has a 4.85 ERA for the year.
