Saturday highlight from the Giants' farm: Mac Williamson homered twice. Also notable, Johnny Monell, Brett Pill and Devin Harris each homered in multi-hit efforts.
AAA: Fresno defeated Colorado Springs 6-4
Fresno: C Johnny Monell: 2 for 5, HR
Fresno: 1B Brett Pill: 3 for 5, HR
Fresno: SP Mitch Lively: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
Fresno: RP George Kontos: 1.0 IP, 1 K
Among five Grizzlies with multiple hits, Pill and Monell hit their 18th and 17th HRs. Who will be the Giants' first farmhand to 20 HRs this year?
Over his last seven starts, Lively has been alternating quality starts and non-quality starts. Tonight was another quality start. Perhaps he can break that pattern with his next start. After issuing at least one walk in each of his previous twelve starts, including a total of 13 BB over his last five starts, he issued no free passes tonight. There's one pattern broken. Kontos pitched a perfect 8th inning.
AA: Richmond lost to Akron 7-4
Richmond: 2B Joe Panik: 2 for 4
Richmond: LF Javier Herrera: 2 for 4, 2B
Richmond: SP Craig Westcott: 4.0 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, 0 K--1 WP
Richmond: RP BRew Bowlin: 2.0 IP, 2 K
Richmond: RP Josh Osich: 1.0 IP, 1 K
Herrera and Panik each had two hits, including Herrera's 28th double, raising their AVGs to .301 and .260.
Westcott allowed a season-high 7 R while allowing half (11 of 22) his batters to reach base. Bowlin and Osich combined for 3.0 perfect IP.
A+: San Jose defeated Stockton 8-5
San Jose: SS Matt Duffy: 3 for 5
San Jose: DH Mac Williamson: 3 for 5, 2 HR
San Jose: RF Devin Harris: 2 for 4, HR, 2 SO
San Jose: SP Kelvin Marte: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K--2 HR
Harris hit his 20th HR in the 4th inning, and Williamson responded with his 18th HR in the 5th inning and his 19th HR in the 7th inning. Duffy joined Williamson with three hits to pace the Giants' eleven-hit attack.
Despite allowing a couple big flies, Marte had a quality start.
A-: Augusta lost to Savannah 3-2 (7 innings) in game 1
Augusta: DH Shawn Payne: 1 for 4, HR
Augusta: 1B Joseph Rapp: 2 for 3
Augusta: SP Chris Stratton: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 8 K
Payne, playing his second Sally League game after being demoted from the Cal League, homered. Rapp had two singles, but his AVG remains below .250.
Despite issuing a career-high 5 BB, Stratton allowed just 1 R but then was unable to complete the 5th inning. Over his last four starts, his components stats have been less than impressive with 28 H, 14 BB and 22 K in 23.2 IP.
A-: Augusta lost to Savannah 3-1 (7 innings) in game 2
Augusta: LF Shawn Payne: 1 for 3, 3B
Augusta: SP Justin Schumer: 5.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Augusta: RP Mason McVay: 1.0 IP, 1 K
Savannah: SP Matthew Koch: 7.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Payne's triple to lead off the 7th inning accounted for the GreenJackets' lone baserunner.
Schumer had a 7/1 GO/FO line, but his W-L record fell to 3-6 in twelve starts. McVay pitched a perfect 6th inning. Koch, the Mets' third rounder a year ago who had allowed 13 R over his previous two starts, was a hit away from a perfect game tonight.
ssA: Salem-Keizer lost to Tri-City 5-4
Salem-Keizer: SS John Polonius: 4 for 4, 2B, CS
Salem-Keizer: SP Chase Johnson: 3.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Salem-Keizer: RP Eduardo Encinosa: 2.0 IP, 4 K
Polonius's four hits raised his AVG to .250.
Johnson, the Giants' third rounder this year, entered the day with just 1 ER through his first 19.1 pro IP but yielded 2 ER tonight in the shortest of his four pro starts (among seven pro appearances). Encinosa had 4 K in 2.0 perfect IP, but his K/BB remains below 2.00 (18 K and 10 BB in 15.1 IP).

Scottsdale: SP Luis Ysla: 4.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K--1 WP
Scottsdale: RP Alejandro Flores: 2.2 IP, 2 K
Riley, whom the Giants selected in the 31st round this year, had been hitless through his first four pro games but tonight tripled and drew three walks to reach base in all four plate appearances. Callaway, the Giants' 37th rounder this year, hit his 3rd and 4th doubles.
In his seventh start, Ysla had a career-high 7 K. So far his component stats are 28 H, 8 BB and 32 K in 28.0 IP. Flores had 2.2 perfect IP and received his first win in a U.S. minor league game.

Dominican: 1B Miguel Gomez: 3 for 4, 2B, BB, SO
Dominican: SP Eber Guzman: 6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 1 K--1 HR
Gomez (20.7 y.o.) reached base four times, improving his season line to .373/.433/.559 through 59 AB. Guzman (20.3 y.o.) bounced back from his last start (season-high 4 ER in 4.2 IP) with his fourth quality start in nine starts.
