Thursday highlight from the Giants' farm: Clayton Blackburn allowed 1 ER in 6.0 IP. Also notable, Roger Kieschnick, Juan Perez, Ricky Oropesa, and Adam Duvall each homered in a two-hit performance.

AAA: Fresno defeated Salt Lake 15-13
(trailing 11-0 after three innings but scoring ten runs in the 15th inning)

Fresno: SS Juan Perez: 2 for 5, HR, 2B, BB, SO
Fresno: RF Roger Kieschnick: 2 for 5, HR, 2B
Fresno: 2B Tony Abreu: 3 for 3, 2B, HBP, SF
Salt Lake: DH Peter Bourjos: 2 for 5, HR, 2 SO

Fresno: SP Mitch Lively: 1.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 1 K--1 HR
Fresno: RP Brett Bochy: 1.0 IP, 1 K

Kieschnick hit his 8th HR and 16th double; Perez hit his 9th HR and 14th double. Abreu's three hits paced the Grizzlies' fifteen-hit attack as he reached base four times. The Angels' Bourjos, playing in his fourth rehab game, led off the bottom of the 1st inning with a HR, which was the Bees' only HR while scoring thirteen runs.

After allowing just 4 ER over his first three starts combined, Lively was pounded in his fourth start for 7 ER in just 1.1 IP. He retired just 4 of 14 batters. Bochy, the fourth of six Grizzlies relievers, pitched a perfect 7th inning.

AA: Richmond lost to New Britain 9-4

Richmond: 3B Adam Duvall: 2 for 4, HR, 2B
Richmond: 1B Ricky Oropesa: 2 for 3, HR, BB, E

Richmond: SP Carlos Teller: 4.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 4 K--1 BK
New Britain: SP Trevor May: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

Duvall and Oropesa both went deep in the 8th inning for their 5th and 4th HRs.

Teller continues to walk batters at a very high rate but surrender few hits. In five starts, he has just 13 H but 22 BB in 22.2 IP. May, one of the Twins' top ten prospects whom they acquired from the Phillies in the Ben Revere trade, had his most effective start in four weeks, limiting the Flying Squirrels to just 1 R in 6.0 IP.

A+: San Jose defeated Lancaster 8-1
(after scoring four runs in the 1st inning)

San Jose: 1B Angel Villalona: 2 for 5, 2 2B, 2 SO
San Jose: RF Mac Williamson: 3 for 4, 2B, HBP

San Jose: SP Clayton Blackburn: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K--1 HB, 1 BK

Williamson and Villalona combined for five of the Giants' eight hits. Villalona hit his 15th and 16th doubles, and Williamson his 12th double. With Villalona, who is a month younger than Williamson, outhitting Williamson by nearly .100 OPS points, is Villalona now the better prospect?

Blackburn had perhaps his most effective start since mid-April, getting his ERA back below 4.50.

A-: Augusta defeated Greensboro 7-2
(after rallying for five runs in the 7th inning)

Augusta: CF Jesus Galindo: 2 for 3, 2B, BB, HBP, 2 SB
Augusta: 3B Stephen Branca: 3 for 5, 2B

Augusta: SP Joe Biagini: 7.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K--1 HR

Branca had three of the GreenJackets' nine hits, raising his AVG to .222. Galindo reached base three times and had his organization-leading (30th and) 31st SB.

Coming off a season-high 9 K in his previous start, Biagini matched a season low with 2 K but delivered a fine start nonetheless. With just 5 R over his last four starts, he has lowered his season ERA to 3.83.
