Kyle Crick only Giants representative on Futures Game roster

The Giants right-hander will follow in the footsteps of Madison Bumgarner, Zack Wheeler, and Brian Bocock.

You're going to hear a lot about the Giants' farm system in the next month. It's in a bad way. But there are a few bright spots, and they're all going to come up in trade rumors. Try your best to ignore all that. Embrace the Kyle Crick while you can.

Again, this is Kyle Crick:

Sigh. And the scouts and front-office execs around the league agree, because even though Crick has been recovering from an oblique tweak for most of the season, he's still the Giants' representative in the Futures Game.

The Futures Game is a U.S. vs. World prospect all-star game that's played the weekend before the actual All-Star Game. Past representatives include:

Tommy Joseph (2012)
Gary Brown (2011)
Francisco Peguero, Zack Wheeler (2010)
Madison Bumgarner, Angel Villalona (2009)
Nate Schierholtz, Angel Villalona, Kevin Pucetas (2008)
Henry Sosa, Brian Bocock (2007)

Stopping it there for obvious reasons. The Giants have been sending just one prospect for a couple years now, but I'm hoping/guessing some of those Low-A and High-A pitchers will force their way onto the roster next year. For now, though, it's like the old saying goes: Crick and Crick and pray for Crick.

I'm mostly just looking forward to getting another picture of him to use in my photo tool.
