Saturday highlights from the Giants' farm: Craig Westcott had 7.0 scoreless IP, and Chris Dominguez, Johnny Monell, John Polonius and Nathanael Javier each homered in a three-hit performance.

AAA: Fresno defeated Salt Lake 9-8 (10 innings)

Fresno: 3B Chris Dominguez: 3 for 5, HR, GiDP

Fresno: SP Mike Kickham: 4.0 IP, 8 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 3 K--1 HR
Fresno: RP George Kontos: 2.0 IP, 2 H, 4 K

With three hits each, Dominguez, Monell and Tanaka combined for over half of the Grizzlies' sixteen hits. They raised their respective AVGs to .285, .298 and .325. Monell hit his 12th HR and 2nd triple, and Dominguez his 9th HR.

Since making his MLB debut, Kickham has allowed 15 ER over three PCL starts. Making his first minor league appearance in two years, Kontos struck out half of his eight batters.

AA: Richmond lost to Reading 3-1

Richmond: CF Ryan Lollis: 2 for 4, 3B
Richmond: SS Ehire Adrianza: 1 for 3, BB, SO, SB

Richmond: SP Craig Westcott: 7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K

With his 1st triple and a single, Lollis had the Flying Squirrels' lone multi-hit line. Adrianza also reached base twice.

Westcott had perhaps his best start of the year, facing just three batters over the minimum in 7.0 IP scoreless IP. He improved his ERA to 3.34. He threw 94 pitches (61 strikes).

A+: San Jose lost to Visalia 7-4
(allowing three runs in both the 6th and 7th innings)

San Jose: SS John Polonius: 3 for 5, HR, SO, E
San Jose: DH Mac Williamson: 2 for 5, 2B

San Jose: SP Ty Blach: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K

Playing his 20th game this year, Polonius had his best game so far with his 1st pro HR plus two singles. Williamson was the only other Giant with two hits, including his 14th double.

Blach allowed nearly two baserunners per inning and so was not around to pitch in the 6th inning but kept the damage to just 1 R. He improved his ERA to 2.64. He had a 10/0 GO/FO line.

A-: Augusta lost to Charleston 3-0

Augusta: DH Ben Turner: 1 for 2, 2B, HBP

Augusta: SP Justin Schumer: 7.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K--1 HB

The GreenJackets sent just two batters over the minimum to the plate. Turner accounted for two of their four baserunners.

Schumer had a season-high 5 K and matched a season high with 7.0 IP but still took the loss, dropping his W-L record to 2-6. At least his K/BB ratio is no longer inverted (16 K and 15 BB in 40.2 IP).

ssA: Salem-Keizer defeated Hillsboro 8-4

Salem-Keizer: C Gabriel Cornier: 1 for 2, 2 BB, SO

Salem-Keizer: SP Andrew Leenhouts: 3.0+ IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

Cornier, the 21-year-old playing his fifth pro season and third in the U.S., reached base three times and scored three runs.

Leenhouts, who had a 4.38 ERA in sixteen AZL appearances last summer, yielded 6 H in just 3.0+ IP in his season debut.

DSL: Gigantes defeated Padres 5-4 (10 innings)

Dominican: 3B Nathanael Javier: 3 for 5, HR, 3B, SO, E
Dominican: SP Eber Guzman: 4.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K--1 WP

Javier's (17.8 y.o.) strong start continues, punctuated yesterday by his 1st HR and 1st triple. His SLG is .488. Guzman (20.2 y.o.) allowed a season-high 7 H but a season-low 2 R in his third start.
