Thursday highlights from the Giants' farm: Brett Pill homered twice, Mark Minicozzi reached base in all five plate appearances, and Chris Marlowe allowed just 1 R in 6.0 IP
AAA: Fresno lost to Nashville 7-11
(after allowing six insurance runs in the 7th inning)
Fresno: 1B Brett Pill: 2 for 4, 2 HR, BB
Fresno: PH Chris Dominguez: 1 for 1, HR

Fresno: RP Brett Bochy: 0.2 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
The lone Giant with two hits, Pill connected for his 8th and 9th HRs. He had 3-run HR in the 1st inning and a 2-run HR in the 9th and finished with 6 RBIs. Dominguez had a pinch-hit, solo HR to lead off the 7th inning--his 3rd HR this year.
Bonser allowed 4+ ER for the third time in seven starts. He has a 5.45 ERA. With 5 ER in the 7th inning, Bochy saw his ERA nearly double to 7.94.
AA: Richmond lost to Altoona 9-8
Richmond: 3B Mark Minicozzi: 3 for 3, HR, 2B, 2 BB
Richmond: C Andrew Susac: 2 for 4, 2B, BB, SO
Richmond: 1B Ricky Oropesa: 2 for 3, 2 BB, SO
Richmond: SP Ryan Bradley: 4.0 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K--2 WP
Minicozzi had a big game, connecting for his 1st HR and reaching base in all five plate appearances. Susac and Oropesa, the Giants' second and third round draftees two years ago, combined to reach base in seven of ten plate appearances.
Bradley matched season highs with 9 H and 7 R allowed. With a BAA of .402, how much longer does he figure to remain in the Flying Squirrels' rotation?
A+: San Jose defeated Bakersfield 6-2
San Jose: RF Mac Williamson: 2 for 3, 2B, 2 BB, SO, E
San Jose: C Jeff Arnold: 1 for 4, HR, BB, 2 SO
San Jose: SP Chris Marlowe: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K
San Jose: RP Josh Osich: 1.0 IP, 2 K
Arnold connected for his 6th HR. The late round draftee from three years ago has an odd stat line, all the more for a right-handed hitting catcher, with 0 doubles, 3 triples and 6 homers. Williamson reached base four times, raising his OBP to nearly .350.
Marlowe has been perhaps the Giants' most effective pitcher this year, having allowed just 6 ER in six starts. He ranks second in the Cal League with 1.69 ERA, trailing only the Diamondbacks' Archie Bradley, who was promoted to the upper minors after five starts. Osich had 2 K in a perfect 9th inning.
A-: Augusta defeated Greenville 6-3
(after scoring four runs in the 1st inning)
Augusta: CF Jesus Galindo: 2 for 4, 3B, 2B, BB, SO, 2 SB
Augusta: DH Shayne Houck: 1 for 2, 3 BB
Augusta: SP Chris Stratton: 7.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 HR, 1 WP
Augusta: RP Derek Law: 1.0 IP, 2 K
Augusta: RP Tyler Mizenko: 1.0 IP, 1 K
The lone GreenJacket with two hits, Galindo had his 1st triple and 2nd double. He had had just 1 XBH through his 99 AB but got 2 XBH today. He also had his 17th and 18th SB. Houck reached base four times, raising his OBP above .450.
Making his sixth start, Stratton had a season-high 7.0 IP while throwing 102 pitches (67 strikes). With 3+ ER in each of his last three starts, his ERA has crept above 3.00. Law and Mizenko combined to strike out half their batters in 2.0 perfect IP.
