Saturday highlights from the Giants' farm: Gary Brown homered and singled, and Ty Blach had 6.0 scoreless IP.

AAA: Fresno lost to Tucson 5-3

Fresno: CF Gary Brown: 2 for 4, HR, SO, E
Fresno: 3B Chris Dominguez: 1 for 4, HR, SO
Tucson: LF Travis Buck: 3 for 4, 2B

Fresno: SP Boof Bonser: 5.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 2 K--1 HB
Tucson: SP Robbie Erlin: 5.0 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 HR

In the 5th inning, Brown connected for his 1st HR this year. He also singled to have two of the Grizzlies' eight hits. Dominguez led off the 9th inning with his 2nd HR. Buck, the former Athletics outfielder now in the Padres organization, had three hits and four RBIs.

Bonser allowed nearly half (12 of 26) his batters to reach base. He apparently struggled with his control throwing just 53 of 96 pitches for strikes. By contrast, Erlin, one of the Padres' top ten prospects, was around the strike zone a lot more, throwing 57 of 81 pitches for strikes in his quality start.

AA: Richmond lost to Trenton 3-0

Richmond: 2B Joe Panik: 2 for 4, CS

Richmond: SP Ryan Bradley: 5.0 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 WP
Richmond: RP Phil McCormick: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Panik had two of the Flying Squirrels' six hits (all singles), raising his AVG to .244.

Bradley allowed more than two baserunners per inning. He has allowed 9 H in both starts but pitched deeper into the game this time. After the first batter reached on an error, McCormick struck out his next two batters in his scoreless 8th inning.

A+: San Jose defeated Visalia 1-0

San Jose: DH Shawn Payne: 1 for 2, 2 BB, 2 SB, CS
San Jose: 2B Myles Schroder: 2 for 3, HR, SO

San Jose: SP Ty Blach: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K

Schroder had just his 3rd pro HR, as well as a single. Batting leadoff, Payne reached base three times. He stole second base twice but was caught stealing home.

Blach threw 6.0 shutout IP in his second pro start. He threw 75 pitches (52 strikes) and had a 9/2 GO/FO line.

A-: Augusta defeated Charleston 4-1

Augusta: SS Matthew Duffy: 3 for 5, SB

Augusta: SP Kendry Flores: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K--1 HR
Augusta: RP Stephen Johnson: 1.1 IP, 1 BB, 3 K

With three singles, Duffy had nearly half of the GreenJackets' seven hits and drove in two of their four runs. He raised his AVG to .270--best in the GreenJackets' lineup.

After allowing just 2 R in his first start, Flores allowed just 1 R in his second start. He allowed a solo HR in the 4th inning but otherwise kept the RiverDogs off the scoreboard. Johnson struck out three of his five batters.
