Very Important Theatre, Vol. VII

I can't remember if I've linked to this before, but I know it wasn't a part of VIT, and since I just watched it again ...

This is what used to qualify as a good Giants season. The Giants put Astroturf in the outfield, closed up centerfield, traded Willie Mays away, and started to suuuuuuuck. In 1982, though, they were sudden contenders. They probably shouldn't have been, seeing as they ended up being outscored on the year, but they entered the last series of the year just a game out.

Then they lost two of three to the Dodgers.

Oh, you might remember it as the Joe Morgan season, in which he hit a homer to knock the Dodgers out of the playoffs, and that was important work. But the season was remembered fondly for the years after, and it was a season that saw the Giants lose the division because they lost a series against the Dodgers at Candlestick. Those two things shouldn't go together, but after the '70s, it's what Giants fans had.

So 2010 and 2012 were for the people excited about 1982. "Don't eat those crusts of bread, my children," Buster Posey cried! "Follow me! I will feed you from my own table!" Now we can appreciate '82 even more. Boy, I'll tell you, I wasn't sure about those championships, but I think I'm for them.

Enough babbling and onto the videos. Dig the KBHK intros.
