Playing back-to-back days in the AFL for the first time, albeit in a DH role today, the Giants' Susac reached base three times on consecutive days. The Giants' Parker did not fare so well, failing to reach base in his five plate appearances. The Dodgers' Cavazos-Galvez homered--one of just two hits for the Desert Dogs. The Braves' Kubitza was the game's lone player with two hits.
The Giants' Crick's third AFL start was his shortest so far. After retiring his first four batters, he allowed a solo HR and then walked the next three batters before striking out his final batter. He threw 44 pitches (24 strikes). The Giants' Mejia fared much better by comparison, striking out nearly half (5 of 11) his batters while pounding the strike zone with 28 of 36 pitches for strikes. The Giants' Hall pitched a scoreless 8th inning, and the Giants' Hall concluded the game with a perfect 9th inning. The Marlins' Heaney, who is likely among the top 50 prospects in the minors, has allowed 3 R in 10.2 IP through his three AFL starts (cf. 6 R in 6.2 IP for Crick and 9 R in 8.0 IP for Mejia).
