Payne homered to lead off the bottom of the 1st inning. Panik had two of the Giants' six hits. Burg also reached base twice.

Promoted to the Cal League for the playoffs, Blackburn had a fine start, allowing just a solo HR and striking out a third of his batters. Osich was the first of two Giants relievers to pitch a scoreless inning despite allowing two hits.
