Pill and Nady each had two of the Grizzlies' eight hits. Nady's two hits raised his AVG above .200 in fifteen games since joining the Grizzlies. Contreras, the ex-Giants farmhand now with the Padres, had three hits to pace the Padres' thirteen-hit attack.
Petit allowed more than 4 runs for just the third time in his last nineteen starts. His ERA rose to 3.48.

Among four Flying Squirrels with two hits each, Perez and Monell both reached base three times. Perez led off the 6th inning with his 11th HR.
Fitzgerald had another very strong start. He has perhaps been the Flying Squirrels' best pitcher in the second half as he has a 1.39 ERA in his last ten starts. Over those ten starts his peripheral stats are 41 H, 20 BB and 53 K in 64.2 IP. The Orioles' Bundy, perhaps the top prospect in all the minors, allowed 2 ER in his second start in the upper minors. He has a 1.95 ERA through his first 21 pro starts.

Stromsmoe reached base three times. Susac was one of three other Giants with two hits. He entered the night hitting just .214/.333/.345 in 145 AB in the second half.
Rogers has been credited with a win in his last four starts, improving his W-L record to 11-10 after 25 starts. He has allowed just 1 R over his last three starts. Harrold finished the shutout with 2.0 perfect IP, although his ERA remains above 5.50.

Blackburn matched a season-high with 10 K. He had his tenth straight start with less than 2 BB. In his last ten starts, his peripheral stats are 60 H, 6 BB and 70 K in 64.0 IP. Neff had 1.2 perfect IP for his 2nd pro save.

Rapp's 11th HR, which came with two outs in the 9th inning, avoided the shutout. Jones had the Volcanoes' only other hit as well as one of their two walks.
Making his eight pro appearance, Stratton had a new career-high with 4.0 IP. After allowing an earned run in each of his first three appearances, he has not allowed a run in any of his subsequent five appearances.

Honeycutt had his 2nd HR. While no rookie Giant had two hits, Duran was one of six Giants who reached base twice by having a single and a walk.
Making his fourth pro start, Agosta had a career-high 6 K. Christman, the fifth of six relievers for the rookie Giants, has allowed just 1 ER in his first 12.0 IP as a pro.
