Wednesday highlights from the Giants farm: Justin Fitzgerald, Taylor Rogers and Kyle Crick combined for just 1 ER in 20.0 IP, and Ricky Oropesa homered among four hits. Also notable, Mac Williamson homered twice.

AAA: Fresno lost to Oklahoma City 7-1

Fresno: SP Yusmeiro Petit: 6.0+ IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Fresno: RP Scott Munter: 1.0 IP, 1 K

Burriss and Noonan, the Grizzlies' two middle infielders, both reached base three times. The rest of the lineup combined to reach base just twice.

Petit allowed just 1 ER though 6.0 IP but after not retiring any of his three batters in the 7th inning ended up shy of a quality start. Munter pitched a perfect 8th inning.

AA: Richmond lost to New Britain 4-3 (10 innings)
(after allowing three runs in the bottom of the 9th inning)

New Britain: DH Oswaldo Arcia: 3 for 5, SO

Richmond: SP Justin Fitzgerald: 8.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K

Monell and Adrianza each had two of the Flying Squirrels' eight hits, although both still have AVGs below .250. The Twins' 21-year-old Arcia singled three times to raise his AVG to .337.

Fitzgerald had not just another excellent start but perhaps his best start of the year. He faced just four batters over the minimum in 8.0 scoreless IP. He has an ERA close to 1.50 over his last nine starts.

A+: San Jose defeated Bakersfield 9-1

San Jose: 2B Carter Jurica: 3 for 5, 2B

Oropesa had his third four-hit game of the year, lifting his AVG above .250. With 3 HR in his last six games, he has 15 HR this year. Parker had his 13th HR this year. Oropesa and Parker are two of three Giants with 10 HR or more. Jurica remained hot with his fourth straight multi-hit game. He has hit better than .350 since the all-star break.

Rogers had a start with 0 ER for the fourth time in 24 starts. Hembree pitched a perfect 9th inning.

A-: Augusta defeated Lakewood 3-1

Augusta: 2B Carlos Willoughby: 2 for 2, BB, CS

Augusta: SP Kyle Crick: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Augusta: RP Chris Marlowe: 1.0 IP, 2 K

Willoughby, who has played in just sixteen games since the end of May, reached base in all three plate appearances.

Crick was not as dominant as in his last start but still had his third straight quality start. He has a 1.36 ERA over his last ten starts. Marlowe pitched a perfect 9th inning for his 1st pro save.

The Volcanoes have not been a HR-hitting team this year but went deep five times tonight--Rapp for team-leading 9th HR, Williamson for his 5th and 6th HRs in just 18 NWL games, Yarrow for his 3rd HR and Cain for his 2nd HR. Almora, whom the Cubs drafted sixth overall this year, was one of two Hawks to go deep. He was making his NWL debut after eighteen AZL games.

Stratton, the Giants' first rounder this year, had his best pro appearance. Making a start after three straight relief appearances, he had career highs with 3.0 IP and 4 K. McVay also had 4 K in a career-long 3.0 IP.

R: Giants lost to Reds 9-5

Scottsdale: 1B Jonathan Jones: 2 for 5, HR
Scottsdale: 2B Alberto Robles: 3 for 4,2 2B, E

Scottsdale: SP Martin Agosta: 3.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K--1 HB, 2 WP

Jones had his team-leading 5th HR. (No one else has more than 2 HR.) Robles had three hits, including his first two XBH this year.

Making his third pro appearance, Agosta, the Giants' second rounder this year, had career highs with 5 K and 3.0 IP.

DSL: Giants lost to Pirates2 3-0

Dominican: SS Rando Moreno: 1 for 3, BB
Dominican: SP Keury Mella: 5.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K--1 HB

Moreno (20.2 y.o.) had one of the Gigantes' two hits and one of their two walks. After 2 ER in four of his last five starts, Mella (19.0 y.o.) had a 2.52 ERA through thirteen starts.
