Friday highlights from the Giants' farm: Tommy Joseph reached base in all four plate appearances, Jose Flores reached base in six of seven plate appearances, and Kyle Crick had 5.0 scoreless IP.

AAA: Fresno lost to Salt Lake 4-1

Dominugez had two of the Grizzlies' six hits. With his recent seven game hitting streak, he has lifted his PCL AVG to nearly .250.

Hacker pitched more than six innings for the first time in his last eight starts. Even with a 4.71 ERA, he has a 10-5 W-L record. Smith, who spent nearly all of the 2008 season with the Athletics in the majors but has had only a few MLB appearances since, had a very good start for the Angels' PCL affiliate. He has a 4.25 ERA in his thirteen PCL starts this year.

AA: Richmond defeated Akron 3-2

Richmond: SP Craig Westcott: 7.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 2 WP

Joseph and Perez combined for five of the Flying Squirrels' seven hits, raising their respective AVGs to .261 and .287.

Westcott had his longest start since his first start in June. He has pitched well so far in July with a 2.49 ERA in four starts.

A+: San Jose lost to Inland Empire 9-5

San Jose: DH Andrew Susac: 1 for 4, HR, BB, 2 SO

San Jose: SP Ryan Bradley: 5.2 IP, 10 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 4 BB, 1 K--1 WP

Susac, who had recently slumped with just three hits in his last nine games, connected for his 7th HR. Parker reached base three times. With a BB/AB ratio approaching 0.20, he has a .372 OBP despite just a .241 AVG.

Bradley allowed a couple big innings, with three runs in the 3rd inning and four runs in the 6th inning.

(adding five insurance runs in the 7th inning)

Flores reached base in all four plate appearances. His three hits paced the GreenJackets' thirteen-hit attack and raised his AVG to .250. Harris reached base three times.

The box score suggests Bandilla did not pitch as effectively as in his previous start, but he did give up an earned run.

Galindo had three hits, raising his AVG to .221. He also had his 28th SB. Flores finished the day with five hits over two games.

Although he allowed more than one third (8 of 21) of his batters to reach base, Crick had 5.0 shutout IP. Despite 24 BB in his last six starts (an average of 4 BB per game), Crick had allowed an earned run in only one of his last seven starts.

ssA: Salem-Keizer lost to Tri-City 2-1

Hill and Rapp had two hits each, while the other seven hitters in the Volcanoes' starting lineup went 0 for 22 with 3 BB.

Stratton, the Giants' first round selection last month, began his second pro start with 2.0 scoreless IP but allowed 2 ER in the 3rd inning. He allowed nearly half (6 of 13) of his batters to reach base. Johnson had 5 K in 3.2 perfect IP, getting four more outs than Stratton while facing two fewer batters.

R: Giants defeated Rangers 9-6

Scottsdale: SP Matthew Lujan: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 HB, 1 WP

With two three-hits games through his first five pro games, Polonius has an AVG over .500. Williamson, the Giants' third rounder this year, had a grand slam in the 4th inning. He has homered in both of his first two pro games.

Lujan made his second start in three pro appearances. He has allowed 3 ER in 6.1 IP, despite some very good peripheral stats--3 H, 1 BB and 6 K.

DSL: Giants defeated Mets1 2-0

Dominican: SP Carlos Diaz: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 K

Valdez (18.0 y.o.) had his 4th and 5th doubles. He has 11 XBH through 115 AB. Diaz (18.8 y.o.) had his first start this year without allowing a earned run.
