Switching it up on you. I could have picked one or the other. Instead, I choose chaos.
Books: I just finished Lush Life by Richard Price, which I loved, but not as much as Clockers. I'm on Drop City by T.C. Boyle right now, and I'm enjoying it a lot.
Prior to those, I read The Corrections, which made me glad I wasn't a literary nerd on the same scale that I am a baseball nerd. Because I know that literary nerds are supposed to have Important Opinions about The Corrections, some of which have to do with the personality of the author. But I'm ignorant! So I loved the book -- one of my favorites of the past couple of years.
Music: Spotify broke me out of my music slump, as now I'm digging through all of the albums I never got around to checking out. My two favorites now: Paul McCartney's Ram and The Refused's The Shape of Punk to Come. Why hadn't I listened to these before? Why didn't anyone yell at me and tell me to listen to these albums? Where were you? Come on. A little help.
Now you. A book and an album/song/band. Or several. It's the end of the All-Star Break, and tomorrow we'll have Important Opinions on Ryan Theriot or something. Now's your chance.
