Making his second PCL start, Sanford began the game with four scoreless frames but did not retire any of the five batters he faced in the 5th inning. Hembree pitched a perfect 8th inning with 2 K.

Westcott allowed 3 ER in the 1st inning but just 1 ER thereafter. He threw 105 pitches (62 strikes). Bochy struck out three of his six batters. Martis, the ex-Giant farmhand now in the Pirates organization, allowed a season-high 5 ER.
