You might remember Pick 6 from FanGraphs -- it's a daily fantasy game in which you pick the players you think are going to do well that day. So if Jamie Moyer is pitching, and Aubrey Huff, Brett Pill, and Hector Sanchez are all being held in a supervillain's underground lair, and Brandon Belt is starting, you would pick Jamie Moyer as your starting pitcher for the day because you know that lefties can't hit lefties.
I've been playing the beta for a couple of weeks, and here's my review: Easy to learn, lifetime to master. Well, not really. You'll never master it. You're picking players on a day-to-day basis. You're going to look stupid regularly.
But it's fun! You have a set amount of fake money to spend, and the players' values vary based on how many people chose them the previous day. Simple, but the best part is that you can compete with specific blogs. Meaning, when you submit your picks for the day, you can compete against the jerk with bad breath who is standing too close to you in a thread right now. You can humiliate that person with your skill and acumen.
There's a countdown to the deadline for the daily picks on the sidebar to the left (or you can click here), and you can read the scoring rules here. I've been kind of geeked about this launch for a while, so I hope you give it a test spin. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to pick Giancarlo Stanton because I don't buy his possum act one bit.
