The only one I'm not confident in is Surkamp, as there's a chance that the Giants will keep Vogelsong away from the DL. But they don't need a fifth starter until the middle of April, yet they might need some mop-up innings from someone. There's still a chance for the official minor-league relief prospect of McCovey Chronicles, Danny Otero. Seven innings this spring, no walks, seven strikeouts! Danny Otero!

I'm also confused by the recent spate of Joaquin Arias mentions, but I suppose he could be the fill-in if the Giants really do trade Theriot or Fontenot.

I still don't buy the idea that the Giants are going to keep Brandon Belt up as some sort of super-utility guy who can pinch-hit. And I don't see them starting him over Aubrey Huff (totally unlikely) or Nate Schierholtz (fairly unlikely).

And while I want to believe that Sanchez could be the backup catcher, I don't see Bochy taking Whiteside to a place that has a huge field where he can run around and play with other Whitesides to his heart's content. Not just yet. Sanchez hasn't forced the issue that much.
