Head to head, the Marlins went 1-6 against the Giants in 2007. Instead of using that as a tiebreaker, or even an NFL-style coin flip, draft position was determined by going back to the previous season. The Marlins won 78 games that year, two more than the Giants. They would have been tied again, but on the season’s final day, the Marlins won their one-run game (over the Phillies) while the Giants lost theirs (to the Dodgers).

Most observers believe Buster Posey eventually will move to first base to protect his health and extend his career. Because Brandon Belt threw a monkey wrench into that notion with his ascent this season, there has been some fanciful chatter about Posey playing third base someday.
