The Giants had five options to DH in Detroit. For Game 4, they're using their worst one against Max Scherzer. At this point ... look, do whatever you want, Bochy. I'm stupid. You're smart. I was wrong. You were right. You're the best. I'm the worst. You're very good-looking. I'm not attractive. Fine.
I was hoping for a Huff appearance, actually. Not necessarily because of old time's sake, but because he wasn't Hector Sanchez, whom I argued for before the Giants went to Detroit, and who betrayed me.
Instead ... Ryan Theriot. Okay.
The lineup:
Angel Pagan - CF
Marco Scutaro - 2B
Pablo Sandoval - 3B
Buster Posey - C
Hunter Pence - RF
Brandon Belt - 1B
Gregor Blanco - LF
Ryan Theriot - DH
Brandon Crawford - SS
Matt Cain - P
It's hyperbole to suggest Cain's a better option, of course. Kind of. But this is the lineup that Bruce Bochy is throwing out there to try for a World Series championship.
And I'll give him this: You get, like, a zillion style points if Ryan Theriot has a four-hit game as your DH in a clincher. Those style points are non-transferable, and Bochy will take them to his grave. It's probably worth the risk.
