Tim Lincecum didn’t always miss by much, but he missed a lot. The Giants were able to hit a few well-struck balls, but they were always right at someone. The Braves were able to get hits with two outs, and the Giants weren’t. The Braves were able to get hits with two strikes, and the Giants weren’t.

For two games, the Braves have looked like the better team. Part of that is because they’ve been able to SCORE SOME FREAKING RUNS, whereas the Giants have not. There’s no moral to take away from this. No big-picture panorama to paint. Tim Lincecum wasn’t going to challenge Bob Gibson’s line from 1968 because he was going to have games like this.
