Also notable, Steve Holm had a grand slam HR, but Madison Bumgarner yielded 5 ER.

(after trailing 5-3 through five innings)
San Jose: CF Juan Perez: 2 for 5, HR
San Jose: 3B Jose Flores: 1 for 5, HR, E
San Jose: LF James Simmons: 3 for 3, BB
San Jose: RF Jose Medina: 2 for 4, 2 HR, SO

San Jose: SP Kyle Nicholson: 5.1 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 HB
San Jose: RP Ben Wilshire: 1.0 IP, 2 K
Medina may have just two hits since being promoted to the Cal League, but both those hits were HRs tonight. After 16 HRs in the DSL, he had hit just 1 HR previously in the U.S. Perez added his 7th HR, and Flores his 2nd HR. Simmons reached base in all four plate appearances. Wheeler, whom the Rockies selected 32nd overall last year out of Sac State, hit his 5th and and 13th double, but his SLG remains below .425 in his first full season.
With 6+ ER allowed in three of his last five starts, Nicholson's ERA is above 7.25. He was selected in the seventh round three years ago. Wilshire struck out two of the three batters he faced mopping up the 9th inning.
A-: Augusta defeated Greenville 7-2
Augusta: DH Hector Sanchez: 3 for 4, 2B
Augusta: SS Juan Martinez: 2 for 3, 2B, SH, SO
Augusta: CF Evan Crawford: 2 for 3, 3B, SH, SO
Augusta: SP Bryan Salsbury: 7.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K--1 HR, 1 HB
Augusta: RP Ryan Verdugo: 1.0 IP, 1 K
The bottom three hitters in the GreenJackets' batting order combined to hit 7 for 10 with 3 XBH. In so doing, Sanchez and Crawford both raised their AVGs to .263, while Martinez's AVG remains just .230.
Salsbury had his most effective start since mid-May, returning the form he showed through his first three starts in May with 1 ER in 23.0 IP before stumbling with 10 ER in 20.2 IP in his three starts after that. In both situations, he has been an innings-eater nonetheless. Verdugo pitched a perfect 9th inning.
