This is Ramon Ramirez's first major league start. As such, he was widget-proof, and I had to improvise with my best guess. I figure, heck, he can't be better than Barry Zito because Zito was our Opening Day starter this year. And, since we have a Cy Young contender in the rotation who wasn't an Opening Day starter, that means that Zito must be better than a Cy Young contender. You can't just assume that Ramirez will be that good right out of the shoot; that's a lot of pressure on a kid.
But I haven't seen Ramirez pitch, so it wouldn't be fair to suggest he's automatically worse than Zito. So I'll give Ramirez the benefit of the doubt, and give him Zito's stats for the season. Split the difference, as it were.
