Matt Cain takes on Giant killer Jake Peavy in a 12:35 start at Petco Park.
Two weeks ago today, I went to a 12:35 start at Petco. It was retro day, circa 1976, and the rainbow-clad Astros were in town to face the mustard-and-dog poo Padres. (Tip of the cap to Uniwatch for the links.) The music played between innings was all from the 70's, and all the players photos on the big screen were doctored to include afros, lampchop sideburns, fu manchus, etc. But the highlight was the lingo they injected into the little player notes they showed on the scoreboard, such as: "This cool cat had 38 doubles last year", "He was 3rd on the team in appearances his first year wearing major league threads", and "He feels totally groovy with men in scoring position, posting a .352 average."
