I was curious yesterday to see how the Giants would squeeze Winn on the roster, but was unable to check the internet before going to the game. Imagine my surprise, then, as Yamid Haad started the game, and Justin Knoedler came in to pinch hit in the ninth inning with two outs. Somehow, they had managed to squeeze a third catcher on the squad.
Even though the Giants were using a guy drafted as a pitcher four years ago as their last gasp pinch-hitter, there was still the hope the Giants had released Alex Sanchez to make room for Knoedler. I've never been so ecstatic to see a team carry three catchers. No such luck, though, as Knoedler is just a temporary replacement for Mike Matheny. Clanky McUselesspeed is still warming the bench for our heroes.
